Detection of tightly closed flaws by nondestructive testing (NDT) methods in steel and titanium [PDF]

open access: yes
X-radiographic, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, eddy current and magnetic particle testing techniques were optimized and applied to the evaluation of 4340 steel (180 KSI-UTS) and 6Al-4V titanium (STA) alloy specimens.

Completion of evaluation of manufacturing processes for B/Al composites containing 0.2mm diameter boron fibers [PDF]

open access: yes
Four fabricators produced a total of 54 B/1100 Al, B/6061 Al, and B/2024 Al panels for evaluation. The 8 ply unidirectional, 45 to 50 volume percent, panels were made using 0.20 mm diameter boron fibers which were obtained from a single supplier.

Nondestructive quality inspection of solenoid valves

open access: yes, 2016
The presented innovative magnetic testing method utilises the fact, that each commercially available electromagnet can not only be used as an actuator, but also comprises internal sensor functions. This allows a huge application variety in the fields of non-destructive testing and condition monitoring of electromagnetic systems during production and ...
