MXene‐Based Flexible Memory and Neuromorphic Devices

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The unique two‐dimensional structure, excellent electrical conductivity, and diverse surface groups of MXenes have garnered significant attention. Coupled with their exceptional flexibility, MXene‐based devices hold immense potential for flexible memory and neuromorphic systems. This review comprehensively discusses the fundamentals of flexible devices,

Increasing the Reuse Potential of High‐Strength Steels by Extending the Fatigue Life through Surface Treatments

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Surface reconditioning through mechanical and electrochemical polishing is shown to extend the fatigue life of predamaged 42CrMo4 steel by over 12 times. By removing ≈100 μm of surface material, surface‐driven fatigue damage is mitigated. This study introduces a reuse potential metric to evaluate fatigue recovery and support sustainable steel reuse. Scanning System Non-destructive Inspection of Weld Connections

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
In this paper a system for branch pipes welding connections is described. One of the important problems for lots of production facilities is defect detection in pipelines. Often the defect detection is both dangerous and a matter of high liability.

Automation for nondestructive inspection of aircraft [PDF]

open access: yesConference on Intelligent Robots in Factory, Field, Space, and Service, 1994
We discuss the motivation and an architectural framework for using small mobile robots as automated aids to operators of nondestructive inspection (NDI) equipment. We review the need for aircraft skin inspection, and identify the constraints in commercial airlines operations that make small mobile robots the most attractive alternative for automated ...

A Reconstruction Procedure for Microwave Nondestructive Evaluation based on a Numerically Computed Green's Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper describes a new microwave diagnostic tool for nondestructive evaluation. The approach, developed in the spatial domain, is based on the numerical computation of the inhomogeneous Green’s function in order to fully exploit all the available a ...

Europium‐ and dysprosium‐modified strontium aluminate: A luminescent marker system for enhanced gunshot residue detection

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Forensic ballistics is essential in analyzing evidence from firearm use in criminal investigations, with gunshot residue (GSR) detection providing key information about the firearm and shooting conditions. Traditional methods like spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) have limitations in sensitivity, cost, and accessibility ...

The Fiery Eyes of a Maenad: Origin Determination of Faceted Garnet Eye Inlays in a Roman Bronze Bust From Southern Tyrol

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In 1837, the Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck, Austria, purchased a Roman bronze statue of a maenad from the 2nd century ce with red garnets as facetted eye inlays found near Brixen, Southern Tyrol. These garnets were investigated using optical microscopy, a portable hand‐held and a stationary micro‐X‐ray fluorescence device, as
