Toward Reliable Modeling of S-nitrosothiol Chemistry: Structure and Properties of Methyl Thionitrite (CH3SNO), an S-nitrosocysteine Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Methyl thionitrite CH3SNO is an important model of S-nitrosated cysteine aminoacid residue (CysNO), a ubiquitous biological S-nitrosothiol (RSNO) involved in numerous physiological processes.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Evaluation of the quality of boreholes water using indicators like Water Quality Index (WQI), and the Comprehensive Pollution Index (CPI) [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة جامعة النجاح للأبحاث العلوم الطبيعية
Mauritania is a country with a water deficit. The majority of these regions are supplied by groundwater through boreholes. Among these regions there is the Wilaya of Akjoujt.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Modeling and evaluation of a threshing drum under vertical vibration

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2018
A threshing drum in a power thresher has a main function for separating seeds from stems via threshing teeth. This part undergoes with high exposure of vibrations, which has a greater chance to work improperly and experiences a fatigue failure that can

Spectrophotometric Determination of Tiopronin in Pharmaceutical Preparations [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة جامعة النجاح للأبحاث العلوم الطبيعية, 2001
Two spectrophotometric methods are described for the determination of tiopronin in pharmaceuticals. They are based on the oxidation-reduction reaction between tiopronin and iron (III), then forming a complex between iron (II) and ferrozine or di-2 ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...
