Quantifying Dynamical Complexity of Magnetic Storms and Solar Flares via Nonextensive Tsallis Entropy

open access: yesEntropy, 2011
Over the last couple of decades nonextensive Tsallis entropy has shown remarkable applicability to describe nonequilibrium physical systems with large variability and multifractal structure.

Phenomenological Prediction of Defect Formation in Continuous Casting of Steel Utilizing Fundamental Modeling and Machine Learning

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
In this article, decision tree classifiers are developed to predict defects in continuous casting of steel utilizing caster data from SSAB Raahe Works (Finland). Phenomenological quality criteria extracted from applicable process measurements and results from solidification and heat transfer simulations are utilized in prediction.

In Situ Investigation of Microstructure Evolution and Stress Generation During Low‐Pressure Carburizing and Quenching by Means of Synchrotron X‐Ray Diffraction

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study uses in situ synchrotron X‐ray diffraction at the German Electron Synchrotron to analyze low‐pressure carburizing (LPC) in steels. The findings reveal surface carbon saturation and carbide formation kinetics, and phase‐specific stress development during quenching. The results show carbide kinetics depend on steel grade and size, while stress

Anomalous diffusion and the Moses effect in an aging deterministic model

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
We decompose the anomalous diffusive behavior found in an aging system into its fundamental constitutive causes. The model process is a sum of increments that are iterates of a chaotic dynamical system, the Pomeau–Manneville map.

Nonequilibrium statistical mechanics of two-dimensional turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesThe Physics of Fluids, 1984
A complete set of independent real parameters and its dynamic equation are worked out to describe the vorticity dynamics of two-dimensional turbulence. The corresponding Liouville equation is solved by a perturbation method upon the basis of a Langevin–Fokker–Plank Model.

Effect of Sintering Parameters on the Densification, Microstructure, and Mechanical Performance of ZrB2–SiC Ceramics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 2, April 2026.
This graphical abstract illustrates the systematic investigation of Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) parameters, temperature, pressure, and dwell time, on the densification and mechanical performance of ZrB2–20 vol% SiC composites. It highlights the critical influence of powder processing history (WC vs.
