Nonexistence of D(4)-quintuples [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory, 2019
In this paper we prove a conjecture that $D(4)$-quintuple does not exist using both classical and new methods. Also, we give a new version of the Rickert's theorem that can be applied on some $D(4)$-quadruples.

Sharp nonexistence results for a linear elliptic inequality involving Hardy and Leray potentials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we deal with nonnegative distributional supersolutions for a class of linear elliptic equations involving inverse-square potentials and logarithmic weights.

Grounding nonexistence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Contingent negative existentials give rise to a notorious paradox. I formulate a version in terms of metaphysical grounding: nonexistence can't be fundamental, but nothing can ground it.

There exist no locally symmetric Finsler spaces of positive or negative flag curvature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We show that the results of Foulon (1997 an 2002) and Kim (2007) (independently, Deng and Hou (2007)) about the nonexistence of locally symmetric Finsler metrics of positive or negative flag curvature are in fact ...

On the nonexistence of hypercommuting polynomials [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1977
If f ( x 1 , … , x n ) f({x_1}, \ldots ,{x_n}) is not central for R, then the additive group generated by all specializations of f in R contains a noncentral Lie ideal of R.

Positive solutions for a system of Riemann-Liouville fractional differential equations with multi-point fractional boundary conditions

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2017
We study the existence and nonexistence of positive solutions for a system of nonlinear Riemann-Liouville fractional differential equations subject to multi-point boundary conditions which contain fractional derivatives.

Existence and nonexistence of positive solutions to a class of nonlocal discrete Kirchhoff type equations

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2023
In this paper, we investigate the existence and nonexistence of positive solutions to a class of nonlocal partial difference equations via a variant version of the mountain pass theorem.

The Brezis–Nirenberg problem for nonlocal systems

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis, 2016
By means of variational methods we investigate existence, nonexistence as well as regularity of weak solutions for a system of nonlocal equations involving the fractional laplacian operator and with nonlinearity reaching the critical growth and ...

Novel Beings and Assisted Nonexistence [PDF]

open access: yesCambridge Quarterly of Healthcare Ethics, 2021
AbstractThis article engages with the legal regulation of end-of-existence decisionmaking for novel beings, specifically assisted nonexistence for such entities. The author explains the concept of a legal model for assisted death by reference to the substantive features of legal regimes in three jurisdictions in which assisted suicide or euthanasia is ...

Positive solutions for a system of fractional differential equations with p-Laplacian operator and multi-point boundary conditions

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2018
We investigate the existence and nonexistence of positive solutions for a system of nonlinear Riemann–Liouville fractional differential equations with parameters and p-Laplacian operator subject to multi-point boundary conditions, which contain ...
