Ventilatory Complexity Persists in Phox2b Mutant Mice Lacking the Retrotrapezoid Nucleus/Parafacial Respiratory Group (RTN/pFRG) and in Humans With Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 533, Issue 12, December 2025.
Phox2B mutant mice and patients with congenital central hypoventilation syndrome exhibit ventilatory variability and complexity comparable to those of controls, suggesting that the RTN/pFRG nucleus is not required for brainstem central pattern generators to generate complex breathing.

Application of Air Pillows and Left‐Right Lateral Tilt Position to Prevent Increased Risk of Pressure Injuries in Bedridden Patients in the ICU: A Quasi‐Experimental Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Pressure injuries incidence is one major issue in the critical care unit. The occurrence and progression of pressure injuries can be decreased with appropriate screening and prevention practices. The primary objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the combination of air pillows and the 30° lateral ...

Reversal of Fentanyl‐Induced Respiratory Depression in Healthy Subjects by Intramuscular Nalmefene Administered by Auto‐Injector Versus Intranasal Naloxone

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 65, Issue 12, Page 1661-1675, December 2025.
Abstract As illegally made fentanyl and congeners continue to drive overdose deaths in the US, experts have called for stronger and longer‐lasting antagonists. A randomized, 4‐period, 2‐treatment crossover replicate‐design study in healthy moderately‐experienced opioid users (n = 24) evaluated the reversal of opioid‐induced respiratory depression (OIRD)
