Competitive Adsorption of Nonionic Surfactant and Nonionic Polymer on Silica

Langmuir, 2007
Competitive adsorption of the nonionic polymer poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and the nonionic surfactant of the type poly(ethylene oxide) alkyl ether from aqueous solutions on a silica surface is examined. From one-component solutions, both species readily adsorb onto silica and, in the bulk of mixed (two-component) solutions, polymer-surfactant complexes

Nonionic Microemulsions

Berichte der Bunsengesellschaft für physikalische Chemie, 1996
AbstractWe review and summarize the features of nonionic microemulsion phase behavior. Particular emphasis is given to the behavior of mixtures of oil, water or other polar materials with nonionic surfactants from the family of n‐alkyl polyglycol ethers, usually denoted as CiEj.

Nonionic surfactants

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1978
AbstractOver one billion pounds of nonionic surface‐active agents are produced per year in the U.S. alone. The oxyethylene derivatives of alcohols and alkylphenols account for 71% of this production. Methods of making these surfactants, along with descriptions of their properties and main uses in various detergents, are described.

Solubilization in nonionic microemulsions

Colloids and Surfaces, 1989
Solubilization of aqueous solutions in microemulsions containing nonionic surfactants has been investigated. The microemulsions are oil-continuous and free of any cosolvent or cosurfactant. The effects of electrolyte type and concentration, hydrocarbon chain length, and temperature on solubilization have been determined experimentally. Depending on the

Fusion of Nonionic Vesicles

Langmuir, 2009
We present an experimental study of vesicle fusion using light and neutron scattering to monitor fusion events. Vesicles are reproducibly formed with an extrusion procedure using an single amphiphile triethylene glycol mono-n-decyl ether in water. They show long-term stability for temperatures around 20 degrees C, but at temperatures above 26 degrees C

Nonionic monomers and dimers

European Radiology, 1996
The 10-year-long debate regarding high-os-molar ionic vs low-osmolar nonionic contrast media has ceased. Now we are confronted with at least eight nonionic monomers and two nonionic dimers. Do these ten contrast agents differ from each other? The manufacturers say yes, but in clinical practice differences have, with a few exceptions, turned out to be ...
