Nonionic Block Copolymer Antifoams
Langmuir, 2006Aqueous dispersions of alkoxylated alcohol block copolymer (BCP) drops are investigated as antifoams. A model aqueous nonionic surfactant solution of Polysorbate 20 and an industrial white water suspension are used as foaming systems. Visual evidence obtained using a two-bubble technique involving a CCD camera coupled with high magnification lenses ...

AbstractPurified polyglycol ester and ether types of non‐ionic surfactants were investigated to determine optimum structures for wetting hydrophobic soils, peat moss, and standard cotton skeins (Draves test). The most rapid wetting of hydrophobic soil was observed with diethylene glycol monoesters of fatty acids possessing 8,9, and 10 carbon atoms and ...

ABSTRACT A set of nonionic maleic surfactants have been prepared, all coming from the derivatization of maleic hemiesters with a long alkyl chain. They are either amidoesters or diester products. In the case of amidoesters, the acid group was first activated and then reacted with primary or secondary or tertiary ethanolamine compounds.

Abstract This chapter describes the interactions of clay minerals with uncharged (nonionic) polymers, such as poly(vinyl alcohol), polyacrylamide, polyethylene glycol (polyethylene oxide) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone. Although ion–dipole, hydrogen bonding and van der Waals interactions are involved, adsorption of uncharged polymers by smectites is an ...
