Nonionic Fluorosilicone Surfactants

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1993
Abstract New fluorosilicone surfactants have been prepared. The focus has been on branched disiloxane and trisiloxane hydrophobes having 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl and 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,6-nonafluorohexyl radicals with poly(oxyethylene) hydrophiles. Their performance as aqueous surfactants was evaluated and compared to conventional methylsiloxane surfactants

Nonionic surfactants from fluoroalkenes

Journal of Fluorine Chemistry, 1985
Abstract Perfluorinated alkenes obtained by degradation of PTFE [1] are easily attacked by nucleophiles. The reaction with poly(oxyethylenes) yields nonionic fluorosurfactants [2]: The F-nonionics I (RH) were transformed into the corresponding sulfates by sulfatation with chlorosulfonic acid.

Nonionic Surfactants: An Overview

Tenside Surfactants Detergents, 2010
Abstract Nonionic surfactants do not produce ions in aqueous solution. As a consequence, they are compatible with other types of surfactants and are excellent candidates to enter complex mixtures, as found in many commercial products. Nonionic surfactants are found today in a large variety of domestic and industrial products, such as ...

Nonionic surfactants

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1978
AbstractOver one billion pounds of nonionic surface‐active agents are produced per year in the U.S. alone. The oxyethylene derivatives of alcohols and alkylphenols account for 71% of this production. Methods of making these surfactants, along with descriptions of their properties and main uses in various detergents, are described.

Novel nonionic siloxane surfactants

Applied Organometallic Chemistry, 1992
AbstractA new method for ethoxylation without application of pressure is described. Butynediololigo(oxyethylene) [H(OCH2CH2)nOCH2CCCH2O(CH2CH2O)nH with n=1–16] has been prepared in the presence of an electrophilic catalyst in a specially developed reciruculating apparatus. The products have been characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy.New nonionic

Clouding of nonionic surfactants

Current Opinion in Colloid & Interface Science, 2016
Nonionic surfactants have broad applications such as cleaning and dispersion stabilization, which frequently are hampered by strong temperature sensitivities. As manifested by clouding and decreased solubility with increasing temperature, the interaction between water and the oligo(oxyethylene) head-groups is becoming less favorable.

Competitive Adsorption of Nonionic Surfactant and Nonionic Polymer on Silica

Langmuir, 2007
Competitive adsorption of the nonionic polymer poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and the nonionic surfactant of the type poly(ethylene oxide) alkyl ether from aqueous solutions on a silica surface is examined. From one-component solutions, both species readily adsorb onto silica and, in the bulk of mixed (two-component) solutions, polymer-surfactant complexes

Biodegradation of nonionic surfactants

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1984
AbstractThis paper discusses the biodegradability of alcohol‐based nonionics measured by the recommended legislative test procedures and how the results obtained are affected by the chemical structure of the surfactant, and thus provides guidance on the selection of materials.
