From a narrow point of view, linear programming is a method for calculating optimal operations plans for various corporate activities. From a broader point of view, however, the theory of linear programming provides a basis for the study of the economics of corporate activity. See, e.g., [Baumol, W. S. 1961.

Nonlinear multivariate analysis
Evaluation News, 1990Reports (1-4 double-spaced typewritten pages) should describe tools, products, andlor services found useful by practicing evaluators. Reports should also include the context of use and sufficient informationfor interested readers to contact the user directly for more detailed information, that is, name, address, and telephone number.

This is the lecture the author delivered before the ''XII Congresso della Unione Matematica Italiana'' held at the University of Perugia, Italy, in September 1983. The author starts with a particularly interesting exposition of various examples which illustrate the great relevance of nonlinear analysis in solving basic problems like those proposed by ...

NONLINEAR TIME SEQUENCE ANALYSIS
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1991We review several aspects of the analysis of time sequences, and concentrate on recent methods using concepts from the theory of nonlinear dynamical systems. In particular, we discuss problems in estimating attractor dimensions, entropies, and Lyapunov exponents, in reducing noise and in forecasting.

Nonlinear dynamics of filaments II. Nonlinear analysis
Physica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 1997Abstract The linear stability analysis of the full time-dependent Kirchhoff equations for elastic filaments gives precise information about possible dynamical instabilities. The associated dispersion relations derived in the preceding paper provides the selection mechanism for the shapes selected by highly unstable filaments.

Nonlinear analysis of pupillary dynamics
Biomedical Engineering / Biomedizinische Technik, 2016AbstractPupil size reflects autonomic response to different environmental and behavioral stimuli, and its dynamics have been linked to other autonomic correlates such as cardiac and respiratory rhythms. The aim of this study is to assess the nonlinear characteristics of pupil size of 25 normal subjects who participated in a psychophysiological ...

Nonlinear Metabolic Control Analysis
Metabolic Engineering, 1999Mathematical description of metabolic systems allows the calculation of the expected responses of metabolism to genetic modifications and the identification of the most promising targets for metabolic engineering. Metabolic control analysis (MCA) provides such a description in the form of quantitative indices (elasticities and control coefficients ...

nonlinear time series analysis [PDF]
Since the early 1980s, there has been a growing interest in stochastic nonlinear dynamical systems of the form, where is a zero mean, covariance stationary process, is the conditional volatility, and is an independent and identically distributed noise process.

A nonlinear discriminant analysis
Computer Programs in Biomedicine, 1971Abstract Two linkable computer programs have been developed for a special case of nonlinear discriminant analysis. Here the discriminant formula is nonlinear because joint normal distributions are postulated, but not equal covariance matrices (abbr. CV-matrices).
