Nonlinear dynamics of filaments II. Nonlinear analysis

Physica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 1997
Abstract The linear stability analysis of the full time-dependent Kirchhoff equations for elastic filaments gives precise information about possible dynamical instabilities. The associated dispersion relations derived in the preceding paper provides the selection mechanism for the shapes selected by highly unstable filaments.

Quantitative Analysis of Nonlinear Embedding

IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, 2011
A lot of nonlinear embedding techniques have been developed to recover the intrinsic low-dimensional manifolds embedded in the high-dimensional space. However, the quantitative evaluation criteria are less studied in literature. The embedding quality is usually evaluated by visualization which is subjective and qualitative.

Sensitivity Analysis of Nonlinear Eigenproblems

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 2019
Summary: Let \(P : \Omega \subset\mathbb{C} \rightarrow\mathbb{C}^{n\times n}\) be given by \(P(\lambda) :=\sum^m_{j=0}A_j\phi_j(\lambda)\), where \( \phi_j : \Omega \rightarrow\mathbb{C}\) for \(j=0, 1, \ldots, m\) are suitable functions. We present an eigenvector-free framework for the sensitivity analysis of eigenvalues of \(P\).

Nonlinear Activity Analysis

Management Science, 1970
From a narrow point of view, linear programming is a method for calculating optimal operations plans for various corporate activities. From a broader point of view, however, the theory of linear programming provides a basis for the study of the economics of corporate activity. See, e.g., [Baumol, W. S. 1961.

Nonlinear analysis of pupillary dynamics

Biomedical Engineering / Biomedizinische Technik, 2016
AbstractPupil size reflects autonomic response to different environmental and behavioral stimuli, and its dynamics have been linked to other autonomic correlates such as cardiac and respiratory rhythms. The aim of this study is to assess the nonlinear characteristics of pupil size of 25 normal subjects who participated in a psychophysiological ...

A nonlinear discriminant analysis

Computer Programs in Biomedicine, 1971
Abstract Two linkable computer programs have been developed for a special case of nonlinear discriminant analysis. Here the discriminant formula is nonlinear because joint normal distributions are postulated, but not equal covariance matrices (abbr. CV-matrices).

Nonlinear Analysis

Evaluation Review, 1995
Numerous nonlinear phenomena that exhibit discontinuous jumps in behavior have been modeled with catastrophe theory. Cobb's Cusp Surface Analysis Program (CUSP) provides a way to empirically estimate and test a nonlinear cusp catastrophe model. A model of emotion during problem solving is used to introduce catastrophe theory modeling and is discussed ...

Nonlinear Analysis of Crazes

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1986
This paper concerns the nonlinear mechanical behavior of a single craze of finite length contained in an extended linear elastic medium. The craze is modeled as a distributed spring with a nonlinear force-displacement relation, which exhibits a hysteresis loop upon unloading.
