Apparent nonlinear damping triggered by quantum fluctuations [PDF]
Nonlinear damping, the change in damping rate with the amplitude of oscillations plays an important role in many electrical, mechanical and even biological oscillators. In novel technologies such as carbon nanotubes, graphene membranes or superconducting

Nonlinear damping and quasi-linear modelling [PDF]
The mechanism of energy dissipation in mechanical systems is often nonlinear. Even though there may be other forms of nonlinearity in the dynamics, nonlinear damping is the dominant source of nonlinearity in a number of practical systems. The analysis of such systems is simplified by the fact that they show no jump or bifurcation behaviour,

Investigation of the effects of value and modeling approach of natural damping on nonlinear responses of low rise moment-resisting steel frames [PDF]
Nonlinear time history analysis is recognized as the most appropriate tool for assessing the real behaviour of structures during seismic excitations. Validity rate of obtained results from this analysis significantly depends to the modeling, details and ...

On the Theory of Nonlinear Landau Damping
An exact solution of the collisionless time-dependent Vlasov equation is found. For the first time in a century, an analytical solution to the one-dimensional time-dependent Vlasov–Boltzmann equation has been found. It has been found that instead of the widely discussed damping, waves are subject to instability.
