Current Tracking Adaptive Control of Brushless DC Motors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
In this paper, the current tracking for Brushless Direct Current motors is approached considering uncertainty in the parameters of the motor's model. An adaptive control scheme to compensate electrical parameters uncertainty is proposed without requiring any knowledge of the mechanical parameters.

The transmissibility of vibration isolators with a nonlinear anti-symmetric damping characteristic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In the present study, the concept of the Output Frequency Response Function (OFRF), recently proposed by the authors, is applied to theoretically investigate the transmissibility of SDOF passive vibration isolators with a nonlinear anti-symmetric damping

Nonlinear stability of viscous roll waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Extending results of Oh--Zumbrun and Johnson--Zumbrun for parabolic conservation laws, we show that spectral stability implies nonlinear stability for spatially periodic viscous roll wave solutions of the one-dimensional St.

Determining the nonlinear damping function using experiments [PDF]

open access: yesОмский научный вестник
In this article, the coefficients of the nonlinear damping function of a mechanical system with one translational degree of freedom are determined from an experimentally obtained oscillogram of free vibrations. The function is modeled using three types

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...

Nonlinear response of superparamagnets with finite damping: an analytical approach

open access: yes, 2004
The strongly damping-dependent nonlinear dynamical response of classical superparamagnets is investigated by means of an analytical approach. Using rigorous balance equations for the spin occupation numbers a simple approximate expression is derived for ...

Stochastic Viscoelastic Wave Equations with Nonlinear Damping and Source Terms

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
The goal of this paper is to study an initial boundary value problem of stochastic viscoelastic wave equation with nonlinear damping and source terms. Under certain conditions on the initial data: the relaxation function, the indices of nonlinear damping,

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

Frequency domain analysis of a dimensionless cubic nonlinear damping system subject to harmonic input [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The effects of cubic nonlinear damping on the system output spectrum are theoretically studied through a dimensionless mass-spring-damping system model subject to a harmonic input, based on the Volterra series approximation.

The nonlinear damping of Bose-Einstein condensate oscillations at ultra-low temperatures

open access: yes, 2002
We analyze the damping of the transverse breathing mode in an elongated trap at ultralow temperatures. The damping occurs due to the parametric resonance entailing the energy transfer to the longitudinal degrees of freedom. It is found that the nonlinear
