Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Investigation of nonlinear wave propagation in water

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
In this paper the effects of nonlinear wave distortion have been described. This problem is characterized for the nonlinear medium. The experimental investigation results of nonlinear propagation have been presented. The wave distortion is connected with

Digital Self-Interference Cancellation for Asynchronous In-Band Full-Duplex Underwater Acoustic Communication

open access: yesSensors, 2018
To improve the throughput of underwater acoustic (UWA) networking, the In-band full-duplex (IBFD) communication is one of the most vital pieces of research. The major drawback of IBFD-UWA communication is Self-Interference (SI).

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Nonlinear Distortion of the Fiber Optic Microphone

open access: yesActive and Passive Electronic Components, 2000
Analytical expressions are obtained for predicting the harmonic and intermodulation performance of the fiber optic microphone. These expressions are in terms of the ordinary Bessel functions with arguments dependent on the amplitudes of the acoustical ...

Optimal Transmission of VLC System in the Presence of LED Nonlinearity and APD Module Saturation

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
We address the optimal transmission of LED-based visible light communication (VLC) system using direct current biased optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM) modulation and avalanche photodiode (APD) receiver.

Control Design and Experimental Validation of a HB-NPC as a Shunt Active Power Filter

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
This work presents the design of a control law based on the average model of a shunt active power filter considering an H-bridge neutral point clamped topology and its experimental validation. Therefore, the proposed controller is formed by three control

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Automatic compensation of nonlinear distortions [PDF]

open access: yesIMTC/2002. Proceedings of the 19th IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (IEEE Cat. No.00CH37276), 2003
When a signal passes a system having a static, nonlinear transfer function, the output signal will be distorted. In addition to it, the defected output signal is usually contaminated by noise, due to the noisy environment. If the distortion level of the signal is not acceptable, we have to compensate it.
