Stereotyped human behavior: A nonlinear dynamical analysis

Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry, 1994
Some forms of stereotyped human behavior seem to occur randomly in time. A dynamical analysis of several topographies demonstrates that while such stereotypies have the spectral characteristics of random noise, the rate at which each subject exhibits his/her stereotypy is to some extent predictable and, unlike uncorrelated noise, prediction accuracy ...

NONLINEAR DYNAMICS ANALYSIS OF TRAFFIC TIME SERIES

Modern Physics Letters B, 2004
Traffic flow shows various complex behaviors. Numerous empirical data and numerical simulation results demonstrate the existence of distinct dynamics states. In order to obtain insight into the nature of the dynamics, we apply the nonlinear time series analysis approach to study the characteristic behavior of traffic flow at low and intermediate ...

Dynamic and Nonlinear Static Analysis

2018
Chapter four focused on demonstration the basics of structural dynamic and explain the fundamental process to determine structural seismic response. In order to have a clear comprehending of the highlighted concepts within this book, it is tried to present the application of theories and calculation processes in a real buildings in all sections ...

Nonlinear Dynamical Analysis of Periodic Lateralized Epileptiform Discharges

Clinical Electroencephalography, 1998
Nonlinear time series analysis can be used to investigate the dynamics underlying the generation of EEG signal. In the present study we used this approach to study the pathophysiology of PLEDs. We calculated the correlation dimension D2 of an EEG with typical PLEDs, and compared the results with those obtained for surrogate data.

Nonlinear Analysis of Intervertebral Disk Under Dynamic Load

Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 1990
This study pertains to the response of intervertebral joint under dynamic axial load. The numerical model represents two vertebral bodies with an interposed disk and uses three-dimensional elements. A transversely isotropic material law is adopted for cortical bone and an isotropic law for cancellous bone.

Incremental Dynamic Analysis: A Nonlinear Stochastic Dynamics Perspective

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 2016
AbstractAn efficient stochastic incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) methodology for nonlinear/hysteretic oscillators is developed by resorting to nonlinear stochastic dynamics concepts and tools such as stochastic averaging and statistical linearization.

Nonlinear dynamic analysis of curved beams

Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1980
Abstract A computational procedure is presented for predicting the dynamic response of curved beams with geometric nonlinearities. A mixed formulation is used with the fundamental unknowns consisting of stress resultants, generalized displacements and velocity components.

Analysis of a Nonlinear Dynamic Vibration Absorber

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1953
Abstract This paper presents a mathematical analysis of the action of a dynamic vibration absorber. The system analyzed consists of a main mass attached to a rigid foundation by a linear spring coupled to the absorber mass by a spring of nonlinear characteristics.

Qualitative analysis of nonlinear dynamic circuits

Second International Conference on `Intelligent Systems Engineering', 1994
The experimental analog design system EASY was developed by Sommer and Homeber (1991) to support a flexible design of electronic analog circuits. One component of EASY, the qualitative analysis, uses qualitative values to analyse a circuit. It supports the designer in verifying his ideas and leading to a better understanding of the circuit function.
