Theoretical prediction of improved figure-of-merit in Si/Ge quantum dot superlattices

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
A detailed theoretical model for thermoelectric transport perpendicular to the multilayers of a Si–Ge heterostructure is presented. The electronic structure of a three-dimensional superlattice, consisting of a regular array of Ge quantum dots in each ...

Strong enhancement of third harmonic generation in a double layer graphene system caused by electron-hole pairing

open access: yes, 2017
A manifestation of electron-hole pairing in nonlinear electromagnetic response of a double layer graphene system is studied. It is shown that the pairing causes the appearance of a number of peaks in the frequency dependence of the intensity of the third

Nonlinear chiral transport from holography

open access: yes, 2019
Nonlinear transport phenomena induced by the chiral anomaly are explored within a 4D field theory defined holographically as $U(1)_V\times U(1)_A$ Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory in Schwarzschild-$AdS_5$. First, in presence of external electromagnetic fields,

Nonlinear Nonreciprocal Electric Conductivity Driven by Magnetic Field Gradients

open access: yesJournal of the Physical Society of Japan
We theoretically propose the emergence of nonlinear nonreciprocal conductivity in centrosymmetric paramagnetic systems when a spatially gradient magnetic field is externally applied. The key essence lies in the appearance of magnetic toroidal dipole moment under the gradient field that breaks both spatial inversion and time-reversal symmetries.

Emergence of domains and nonlinear transport in the zero-resistance state

open access: yes, 2013
We study transport in the domain state, the so-called zero-resistance state, that emerges in a two-dimensional electron system in which the combined action of microwave radiation and magnetic field produces a negative absolute conductivity.

Existence and uniqueness for magnetohydrodynamic flows in pipes with viscosity dependent on the temperature

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2009
The steady motion of a viscous fluid in pipes of arbitrary cross-sections under a transverse magnetic field is studied, assuming that the viscosity and the electric and thermal conductivity are given functions of the temperature. Theorems of existence

Numerical Investigation of Entropy Generation in Unsteady MHD Generalized Couette Flow with Variable Electrical Conductivity

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
The thermodynamic second law analysis is utilized to investigate the inherent irreversibility in an unsteady hydromagnetic generalized Couette flow with variable electrical conductivity in the presence of induced electric field.

Influence of optical nonlinearities on plasma waves in graphene

open access: yes, 2017
A theory of the nonlinear plasma waves in graphene is developed in the nonperturbative regime. The influence of strong electric fields on the position and linewidth of plasma resonances in the far-infrared transmission experiments, as well as on the ...

Nonlinear response of superconducting NbN thin film and NbN metamaterial induced by intense terahertz pulses

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We present the nonlinear response of superconducting niobium nitride (NbN) thin film and NbN metamaterial with different thicknesses under intense terahertz pulses.
