Exploring nonlinear drift waves: Limiting cases and dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
A general equation for drift waves is derived, incorporating both nonlinear electron density perturbation and ion vorticity effects. It is emphasized that the well-known Hasegawa–Mima (HM) equation for drift waves [A. Hasegawa and K. Mima, Phys.

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

On nonlinear evolution equation of second order in Banach spaces

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2018
Here we study the existence of a solution and also the behavior of the existing solution of the abstract nonlinear differential equation of second order that, in particular, is the nonlinear hyperbolic equation with nonlinear main parts, and in the ...

Nonlinear instability in generalized nonlinear phase diffusion equation

open access: yes, 2003
High-order versions of truncated generalized nonlinear phase diffusion equation of Kuramoto are analyzed. The main common feature of the equations is nonlinear internal energy supply. Numerical solutions are presented for some specific values of equation

Finding the one-loop soliton solution of the short-pulse equation by means of the homotopy analysis method

open access: yes, 2009
The homotopy analysis method is applied to the short-pulse equation in order to find an analytic approximation to the known exact solitary upright-loop solution. It is demonstrated that the approximate solution agrees well with the exact solution.

New extended generalized Kudryashov method for solving three nonlinear partial differential equations

open access: yes, 2020
New extended generalized Kudryashov method is proposed in this paper for the first time. Many solitons and other solutions of three nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs), namely, the (1+1)-dimensional improved perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger ...

An approach to nonlinear viscoelasticity via metric gradient flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We formulate quasistatic nonlinear finite-strain viscoelasticity of rate type as a gradient system. Our focus is on nonlinear dissipation functionals and distances that are related to metrics on weak diffeomorphisms and that ensure time-dependent frame ...

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.
