Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Estimating the Dynamics of R&D-based Growth Models [PDF]

open access: yes
Several R&D-based models of endogenous economic growth are investigated under the Solow-like assumption of fixed allocation of resources across activities.

BB: An R Package for Solving a Large System of Nonlinear Equations and for Optimizing a High-Dimensional Nonlinear Objective Function

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2009
We discuss R package BB, in particular, its capabilities for solving a nonlinear system of equations. The function BBsolve in BB can be used for this purpose.

Development and adaptation of higher-order iterative methods in Rn with specific rules

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Models and Applied Computational Science
In this article, we propose fourth- and fifth-order two-step iterative methods for solving the systems of nonlinear equations in \(R^n\) with the operations of multiplication and division of vectors.

Singular nonlinear elliptic equations in \(\mathbb{R}^N\)

open access: yes, 1998
Summary: This paper deals with the existence, uniqueness and regularity of positive generalized solutions of singular nonlinear equations of the form \(-\Delta u+ a(x)u= h(x) u^{-\gamma}\) in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) where \(a\), \(h\) are given, not necessarily continuous functions, and \(\gamma\) is a positive number. We explore both situations where \(a\), \

Instable solutions of nonlinear parabolic equations in R3

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 1987
The author first considers scalar semilinear elliptic equations in \({\mathbb{R}}^ 3\), the nonlinearity being of polynomial type. He shows that their solutions are unstable when considered as equilibria of related evolution equations. This is further extended to weakly coupled gradient systems as well as to more general nonlinearities or half space ...

Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...

Nonlinear dynamics of sand banks and sand waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Sand banks and sand waves are two types of sand structures that are commonly observed on an off-shore sea bed. We describe the formation of these features using the equations of the fluid motion coupled with the mass conservation law for the sediment ...

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

INITIAL VALUE PROBLEMS FOR NONLINEAR DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS SOLVED BY DIFFERENTIAL TRANSFORM METHOD [PDF]

open access: yes
The notion of differential transform was firstly introduced and applied to electrical circuits by J. Zhou, [4]. In the present paper we apply the differential transform method to solve initial values problems for nonlinear differential equations.
