High order compact finite difference schemes for a nonlinear Black-Scholes equation [PDF]

open access: yes
A nonlinear Black-Scholes equation which models transaction costs arising in the hedging of portfolios is discretized semi-implicitly using high order compact finite difference schemes. In particular, the compact schemes of Rigal are generalized.

Nonlinear Schrodinger equations on the half-line with nonlinear boundary conditions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
In this article, we study the initial boundary value problem for nonlinear Schrodinger equations on the half-line with nonlinear boundary conditions $$ u_x(0,t)+\lambda|u(0,t)|^ru(0,t)=0,\quad \lambda\in\mathbb{R}-\{0\},\; r> 0.

Hyperbolic nonlinear Schrödinger equations on $${\mathbb {R}}\times {\mathbb {T}}$$

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations and Applications
In this paper, we consider the hyperbolic nonlinear Schrödinger equations (HNLS) on $\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{T}$. We obtain the sharp local well-posedness up to the critical regularity for cubic nonlinearity and in critical spaces for higher odd nonlinearities.

On Modifying Singular Values to Solve Possible Singular Systems of Non-Linear Equations [PDF]

open access: yes
We show that if a certain nondegeneracy assumption holds, it is possible to guarantee the existence of a solution to a system of nonlinear equations f(x) = 0 whose Jacobian matrix J(x) exists but maybe singular.

Powering Nanocrystal‐Based Heat Engines With Light‐Emitting Metasurfaces That Influence Their Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurfaces and other structured photonic environments can dramatically modify the absorption and/or light emission of semiconductors. However, the consequences of these changes on the temperature of the system are not well understood. The authors address this problem for colloidal nanocrystals and leverage their findings to convert light into ...

Some Convergence Properties of Broyden's Method [PDF]

open access: yes
In 1965 Broyden introduced a family of algorithms called(rank-one) quasi—New-ton methods for iteratively solving systems of nonlinear equations. We show that when any member of this family is applied to an n x n nonsingular system of linear equations ...
