Motion of Curves and Surfaces and Nonlinear Evolution Equations in (2+1) Dimensions
It is shown that a class of important integrable nonlinear evolution equations in (2+1) dimensions can be associated with the motion of space curves endowed with an extra spatial variable or equivalently, moving surfaces.

Vortex solitons in dispersive nonlinear Kerr type media
We have investigated the nonlinear amplitude vector equation governing the evolution of optical pulses in optical and UV region. We are normalizing this equation for the cases of different and equal transverse and longitudinal size of optical pulses, of ...

On N-wave type systems and their gauge equivalent
The class of nonlinear evolution equations - gauge equivalent to the N-wave equations related to the simple Lie algebra g are derived and analyzed. They are written in terms of the functions S(x,t) satisfying r= rank g nonlinear constraints.

Nonlinear Evolution Equations and Analyticity. I [PDF]
We prove a theorem on abstract nonlinear evolution equations ∂_tu = F(t, u) in a Banach space, which aims at estimating certain families of Liapunov functions for the solutions. The theorem is useful in proving global analyticity (in space variables) of solutions of various partial ...

Nonlinear evolution equations for degenerate transverse waves in anisotropic elastic solids
Transverse elastic waves behave differently in nonlinear isotropic and anisotropic media. Quadratically nonlinear coupling in the evolution equations for wave amplitudes is not possible in isotropic solids, but such a coupling may occur for certain ...

Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

In this article, a variety of solitary wave solutions are observed for microtubules (MTs). We approach the problem by treating the solutions as nonlinear RLC transmission lines and then find exact solutions of Nonlinear Evolution Equations (NLEEs ...

KdV-type equations linked via Baecklund transformations: remarks and perspectives
Third order nonlinear evolution equations, that is the Korteweg-deVries (KdV), modified Korteweg-deVries (mKdV) equation and other ones are considered: they all are connected via Baecklund transformations.
