Self-similar solutions and collective coordinate methods for Nonlinear Schrodinger Equations

open access: yes, 2003
In this paper we study the phase of self-similar solutions to general Nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations. From this analysis we gain insight on the dynamics of nontrivial solutions and a deeper understanding of the way collective coordinate methods work ...

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Instability and Evolution of Nonlinearly Interacting Water Waves

open access: yes, 2006
We consider the modulational instability of nonlinearly interacting two-dimensional waves in deep water, which are described by a pair of two-dimensional coupled nonlinear Schroedinger equations. We derive a nonlinear dispersion relation.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Square-mean piecewise almost automorphic mild solutions to a class of impulsive stochastic evolution equations

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2020
In this paper, we introduce the concept of square-mean piecewise almost automorphic function. By using the theory of semigroups of operators and the contraction mapping principle, the existence of square-mean piecewise almost automorphic mild solutions ...

Dynamical systems theory for nonlinear evolution equations

open access: yes, 2010
We observe that the fully nonlinear evolution equations of Rosenau and Hymann, often abbreviated as $K(n,\,m)$ equations, can be reduced to Hamiltonian form only on a zero-energy hypersurface belonging to some potential function associated with the ...

Time-dependent nonlinear evolution equations

open access: yesDifferential and Integral Equations, 2002
In this paper, the following evolution inclusion is investigated: \[ \frac{du}{dt}\in A(t)u,\quad u(0)=u_0, \] where \(A(t):D(A(t))\subset X\rightarrow X\) is a nonlinear multivalued operator, \(X\) a Banach space and ...

Complete Integrability of Nonlinear Evolution Equations [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics, 1975
Summary: It is shown that a broad class of nonlinear evolution equations, which have been systematically discussed by Ablowitz, Kaup, Newell and Segur, can be described as the Hamiltonian systems and that these Hamiltonian systems are completely integrable.

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Superposition in nonlinear wave and evolution equations

open access: yes, 2005
Real and bounded elliptic solutions suitable for applying the Khare-Sukhatme superposition procedure are presented and used to generate superposition solutions of the generalized modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation (gmKPE) and the nonlinear cubic ...
