Numerical and Experimental Assessment of Oxygen Distribution in a Perfusion Bioreactor to Mimic the Osteochondral Niche

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Oxygen supply is a critical parameter in 3D cell cultivation using bioreactors. Since bioreactor designs often prioritise practical constraints, understanding the oxygen supply dynamics of the media is crucial for achieving either uniform or spatially controlled oxygen delivery.

Extended batch adsorber analogue model (e‐BAAM) for rapid evaluation of CO2 capture pressure swing adsorption cycles

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This work presents a simplified extended‐batch adsorber analogue model (e‐BAAM) to quantify key performance metrics such as purity, recovery, and energy trends for various pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process cycles for CO2$$ {\mathrm{CO}}_2 $$ capture.

Practically finite-time H∞ deployment of large-scale multi-agent systems with sequence-dependent switching topology: a fuzzy PDE-based approach

open access: yesAutomatika
In this paper, for large-scale nonlinear first-order and second-order multi-agent systems (MASs) with external disturbance, the practically finite-time [Formula: see text] deployment (PFTHD) problem is studied via the approach based on partial ...

Application of dynamic modelling and model‐based predictive control to enhance a cooling tower

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Model predictive control (MPC) applied to improve the operation of cooling towers. Abstract Model predictive control (MPC) differs from traditional feedback control by making predictions within a time horizon, providing better control actions for the process.

Stefan flow of nanofluid and heat transport over a plate in company of Thompson and Troian slip and uniform shear flow

open access: yesForces in Mechanics, 2022
The aim of this article is to present the combined influences of Stefan blowing and Thompson and Troian slip on forced convection motion of nanoliquid past a non absorbent plate in attendance with the first order compound response.

Cohomological Field Theories and First-Order Nonlinear PDEs

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics
Abstract We introduce a formalism for constructing cohomological field theories (CohFTs), inspired by Witten’s paradigm of “symmetries, fields, and equations”. We apply this formalism to various first-order nonlinear PDEs and show that the resulting CohFTs agree with those previously proposed by physicists.

Research progress and current status of dynamic wave propagation characteristics in rock mass: A review

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This review elucidates the velocity–dispersion–attenuation coupling mechanisms of wave propagation in rock masses, compares six representative models, and reveals how pressure, temperature, mineral composition, and anisotropy jointly control dynamic responses in complex geological media.

Supervised and Unsupervised Neural Network Solver for First Order Hyperbolic Nonlinear PDEs

open access: yesCoRR
We present a neural network-based method for learning scalar hyperbolic conservation laws. Our method replaces the traditional numerical flux in finite volume schemes with a trainable neural network while preserving the conservative structure of the scheme.

Stability Evaluation and Parametric Optimization of Coal‐Concrete Composite Bearing Systems Under Mine‐Water‐Induced Deterioration: Experiments and FEINN Analysis

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Mine‐water immersion tests reveal pronounced coal weakening (vs. minor concrete degradation), identifying coal pillars as the stability‐limiting component in composite dams. A coupled FEINN framework quantifies extreme‐pressure stability and ranks multi‐parameter designs via a normalized multi‐indicator scheme, enabling optimized dam configuration for ...

A note on the application of a time exponential integrator to fully nonlinear numerical wave tanks for engineering applications

open access: yesApplied Ocean Research
This work examines pseudospectral method-based theoretical frameworks for developing Numerical Wave Tanks (NWTs) which predict the spatiotemporal evolution of surface gravity–capillary waves. A special focus is on the numerical implementation.
