Unique positive solution for an alternative discrete Painlevé I equation [PDF]
We show that the alternative discrete Painleve I equation has a unique solution which remains positive for all n >0. Furthermore, we identify this positive solution in terms of a special solution of the second Painleve equation involving the Airy ...

This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Linear systems and determinantal random point fields. [PDF]
Tracy and Widom showed that fundamentally important kernels in random matrix theory arise from systems of differential equations with rational coefficient.

On The Positive Definite Solutions Of Nonlinear Matrix Equation
In this paper, the nonlinear matrix equation is investigated. Based on the fixed-point theory, the boundary and the existence of the solution with the case r>-δi are discussed. An algorithm that avoids matrix inversion with the case -1<-δi<0 is proposed.

On the stability of a weighted finite difference scheme for wave equation with nonlocal boundary conditions [PDF]
We consider the stability of a weighted finite difference scheme for a linear hyperbolic equation with nonlocal integral boundary condition. By studying the spectrum of the transition matrix of the three-layered difference scheme we obtain a sufficient ...

NONLINEAR EQUATION WITH THE THIRD ORDER SCATTERING OPERATOR
Introduction: most of the differential equations associated with soliton mathematics are obtained using the Lax operator equation or the zero-curvature equation, which are the compatibility condition for a pair of linear differential systems. The case in
