Predicting Height to Crown Base of Larix olgensis in Northeast China Using UAV-LiDAR Data and Nonlinear Mixed Effects Models

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
As a core content of forest management, the height to crown base (HCB) model can provide a theoretical basis for the study of forest growth and yield.

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

A new method for the estimation of variance matrix with prescribed zeros in nonlinear mixed effects models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We propose a new method for the Maximum Likelihood Estimator (MLE) of nonlinear mixed effects models when the variance matrix of Gaussian random effects has a prescribed pattern of zeros (PPZ).

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Incorporating stand parameters in nonlinear height-diameter mixed-effects model for uneven-aged Larix gmelinii forests

open access: yesFrontiers in Forests and Global Change
Tree attributes, such as height (H) and diameter at breast height (D), are essential for predicting forest growth, evaluating stand characteristics and developing yield models for sustainable forest management.

Development of stem diameter model for Bornmullerian fir (Abies nordmanniana (Stev.) subsp. bornmulleriana (Mattf.)) stands in Ayancık District using mixed effects modeling approach

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Forestry, 2015
A nonlinear mixed-effect modeling approach was used to model for Turkish fir [Abies nordmanniana (Stev.) subsp. bornmülleriana (Mattf.)] stands in Sinop-Ayancık District of Turkey.

Understanding nonlinear and synergistic effects of the built environment on urban vibrancy in metro station areas

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Applied Science, 2023
Transit-oriented development (TOD) has long been recognized as a significant model for prospering urban vibrancy. However, most studies on TOD and urban vibrancy do not consider temporal differences or the nonlinear effects involved.

Discovery and Targeted Proteomic Studies Reveal Striatal Markers Validated for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Clinical trials for Huntington's disease (HD) enrolling persons before clinical motor diagnosis (CMD) lack validated biomarkers. This study aimed to conduct an unbiased discovery analysis and a targeted examination of proteomic biomarkers scrutinized by clinical validation. Methods Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from PREDICT‐HD and
