Forward Model Nonlinearity versus Inverse Model Nonlinearity

Groundwater, 2007
Abstract The issue of concern is the impact of forward model nonlinearity on the nonlinearity of the inverse model. The question posed is, “Does increased nonlinearity in the head solution (forward model) always result in increased nonlinearity in the inverse solution (estimation of hydraulic conductivity)?” It is shown that the two ...

Nonlinear Stochastic Compartmental Models

Mathematical Medicine and Biology, 1985
Compartmental models have been widely applied to biological systems where material is transferred between compartments. The simple assumption of linear transfer functions results in a mathematically tractable system, but can underestimate the variation.

Nonlinear parametric quantile models

Statistical Methods in Medical Research, 2020
Quantile regression is widely used to estimate conditional quantiles of an outcome variable of interest given covariates. This method can estimate one quantile at a time without imposing any constraints on the quantile process other than the linear combination of covariates and parameters specified by the regression model.

Nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model

Physical Review A, 1992
A simple nonlinear generalization of the Jaynes-Cummings model is investigated within the rotating-wave approximation. The dynamics of the system (the quantum inversion and squeezing of radiation) is discussed. Due to the nonlinearity, for certain values of the detuning the quantum inversion does not exhibit the Cummings collapse.

Nonlinear Model for Acetazolamide

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1979
Intravenous bolus injections of 14C-labeled acetazolamide were made in rabbits. Plasma, urine, and washed red blood cell concentrations were measured, the latter indicating bound drug. AUTOAN and NONLIN were used to fit the plasma data to a linear two-compartment model.
