Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

Finite element reduced order models for nonlinear vibrations of piezoelectric layered beams with applications to NEMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This article presents a finite element reduced order model for the nonlinear vibrations of piezoelectric layered beams with application to NEMS. In this model, the geometrical nonlinearities are taken into account through a von Kármán nonlinear strain ...

Design of a Multistable Finger Prosthesis with Programmable Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This research article shows the development of a multistable programmble metamaterial for the use as a finger prosthesis. The material was designed on different hierarchical levels where the influence of geometrical parameters and combination of mechanical elements was explored.

Perturbed Iterative Approximation of Solutions for Nonlinear General -Monotone Operator Equations in Banach Spaces

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2009
We introduce and study a new class of nonlinear general -monotone operator equations with multivalued operator. By using Alber's inequalities, Nalder's results, and the new proximal mapping technique, we construct some new perturbed iterative ...

Morphology, Transport, and Dynamics of Protein Adsorption in Open‐Cell Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stainless steel (SS) open‐cell foams are shown to adsorb more protein per unit area than previously reported 316L SS and chromium oxide surfaces under static and flow conditions. An integrated approach combining 3D pore imaging, flow simulation, and protein adsorption experiments characterizes the foam’s performance.

Nonlinear Sum Operator Equations with a Parameter and Application to Second-Order Three-Point BVPs

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
A class of nonlinear sum operator equations with a parameter on order Banach spaces were considered. The existence and uniqueness of positive solutions for this kind of operator equations and the dependence of solutions on the parameter have been ...

Nonlinear cross Gramians and gradient systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We study the notion of cross Gramians for non-linear gradient systems, using the characterization in terms of prolongation and gradient extension associated to the system.

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

On nonlinear nuclear operators

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1981
AbstractA class of operators is introduced and referred to as nonlinear nuclear operators. As in the case of linear nuclear operators this class of nonlinear operators is defined by means of a tensor product of two topological vector spaces. It is then shown that, as in the linear case, a series representation of the operator is valid. The deviation of
