Testing nonlinear operators

Numerical Algorithms, 1995
This paper deals with the so-called ``black-box testing'' for stateless systems (upon the same input, a stateless system always produces the same output). A large number of practical systems is stateless, including combinatorical circuits and numerical software or hardware systems. Only numerical systems testing is considered.

Solutions of Nonlinear Operator Equations

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1977
Some theorems concerning existence and uniqueness of zeros of operator polynomials are given. Under certain hypotheses we show the existence of complete pairs of zeros. A numerical example is given applying the theorems.

On generation of nonlinear operator semigroups and nonlinear evolution operators

Semigroup Forum, 2003
The basic semigroup generation result in \textit{M. G. Crandall} and \textit{A. Pazy} [Isr. J. Math. 11, 57--94 (1972; Zbl 0249.34049)] is re-obtained via sequential arguments based on difference equations theory.

Nonlinear operators for error diffusion

Journal of Electronic Imaging, 1997
The error diffusion halftoning method preserves details well, but produces some unwanted regular texture patterns. The purpose of this paper is to introduce certain nonlinear operators with small kernels for the error diffusion to reduce the regular patterns. The goal is to suppress pattern artifacts while maintaining a small neighborhood.

On a Stability Inequality for Nonlinear Operators

SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1977
In this paper we prove a stability inequality for nonlinear operators mapping a subset of a partially ordered vector space into a space of the same type. On the basis of this general setting, we study applications to nonlinear systems, to the stability of a wide class of finite difference methods for ordinary and partial differential equations, as well

Iterative Algorithms for Nonlinear Operators

Journal of the London Mathematical Society, 2002
This article deals with the following approximations \[ x_{n+1} := \alpha_n x_0 + (1 - \alpha_n)(I + c_n T)^{-1}(x_n) +e_n,\quad n = 0, 1, 2,\dots, \] to a solution \(x^*\) of the inclusion \(0\in Tx\) with a maximal monotone operator \(T\) in a Hilbert space \(H\).

Peetre Theorem for Nonlinear Operators

Annals of Global Analysis and Geometry, 1988
A nonlinear version of the well-known Peetre theorem on the locally finite order of support nonincreasing linear operators is a useful tool for investigation of possible orders of natural oprators between natural bundles and also for some other purposes.

Nonlinear Superposition Operators

1990
This book is a self-contained account of knowledge of the theory of nonlinear superposition operators: a generalization of the notion of functions. The theory developed here is applicable to operators in a wide variety of function spaces, and it is here that the modern theory diverges from classical nonlinear analysis.
