Representation of nonlinear behavior of fully grouted K joints in pushover analysis

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2020
Abstract This paper develops a new joint representation to indicate the nonlinear load-deformation behavior and ultimate strength of FG K joints in the global pushover analysis. To simulate the ductile fracture of FG K joints, the study establishes the fracture locus of steel S355 and incorporates the fracture locus into the Johnson-Cook model for ...

Unsymmetric-plan masonry buildings: pushover vs nonlinear dynamic analysis

2010
This paper deals with the inelastic torsional behavior of unreinforced low-rise masonry buildings. First, the nonlinear dynamic response of unsymmetric-plan buildings under different seismic inputs is compared with the one of the counterpart symmetric variant in order to assess the torsional coupling arising from unsymmetry.

Enhanced nonlinear static analysis with the drift pushover procedure for tall buildings

Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, 2016
In this study a new method for nonlinear static analysis based on the relative displacements of stories is proposed that is able to be implemented in a single stage analysis and considers the effects of an arbitrary number of higher modes. The method is called the extended drift pushover analysis procedure (EDPA).

Use of Plastic Hinge Model in Nonlinear Pushover Analysis of a Pile

Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2009
The capacity of a pile-soil system can be obtained by pushover analysis using the beam-on-nonlinear-Winkler foundation model. When the pile section enters the plastic state, the plastic hinge method is usually adopted to model its postyielding flexural behavior.

Advanced high strength steel tube diagrid using TRIZ and nonlinear pushover analysis

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2014
Abstract The goal of this study is to provide engineers and designers with a good indication of TRIZ methodologies and evaluate new high performance steel diagrid details to resolve the problematic aspects of steel diagrid structures such as the concentration of stress at the ends of the tube contacted to cap plates.

A coupled connector element for nonlinear static pushover analysis of precast concrete diaphragms

Engineering Structures, 2015
Abstract This paper describes the formulation of a diaphragm connector element developed for use in two-dimensional finite element (2D-FE) modeling of precast concrete diaphragms. The connector elements, composed of assemblages of standard element types readily available in most FE software package libraries, are nonlinear, coupled for shear–tension ...

Seismic Assessment of RC Frame Structure by Nonlinear Static Pushover Analysis.

International Journal of Research and Scientific Innovation
Bangladesh is located in a seismically active area, and the rising number of earthquakes has alarmed the local population. Major cities of Bangladesh are under a serious threat due to defective design and structural construction. If seismic do not take under consideration building could be severely damaged under seismic loads.

A novel shell element for nonlinear pushover analysis of reinforced concrete shear walls

Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, 2015
We present a procedure for the assessment of reinforced concrete structures in terms of seismic capacity based on the nonlinear pushover method. Structural systems containing shear walls are dealt with by adopting a newly developed reinforced shell element in which arbitrary distributions of steel reinforcement and nonlinear material behavior for both ...

Optimal seismic performance-based design of reinforced concrete buildings using nonlinear pushover analysis

Engineering Structures, 2005
Performance-based design using nonlinear pushover analysis, which generally involves tedious and intensive computational effort, is a highly iterative process needed to meet designer-specified and code requirements. This paper presents an effective computer-based technique that incorporates pushover analysis together with numerical optimization ...
