Simultaneous Achievement of Enhanced Nonlinear Optical Absorption and Nonlinear Refraction in Highly Crystalline 2D Covalent Organic Frameworks Ultrathin Films [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Large enhancement of nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction are achieved simultaneously in highly ordered two dimensional (2D) covalent organic framework (COF) films prepared by solidliquid interface one‐step method to overcome the weakness of COF

Nonlinear Negative Refraction by Difference Frequency Generation [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2015
Negative refraction has attracted much interest for its promising capability in imaging applications. Such an effect can be implemented by negative index meta-materials, however, which are usually accompanied by high loss and demanding fabrication ...

Dispersion of nondegenerate nonlinear refraction in semiconductors

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
We use our recently developed beam-deflection technique to measure the dispersion of the nondegenerate nonlinear refraction (NLR) of direct-gap semiconductors. The magnitude and sign of the NLR coefficient n2(ωa; ωb) are determined over a broad spectral range for different values of nondegeneracy.

Nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction: maximizing the merit factors [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2012
Both nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction are effects that are potentially useful for a plethora of applications in photonics, nanophotonics and biophotonics. Despite substantial attention given to these phenomena by researchers studying the merits of disparate systems such as organic materials, hybrid materials, metal-containing molecules and

Hybrid Nonlinear Metasurface Refractive Lens. [PDF]

open access: yesNano Lett
Nonlinear metasurfaces have been extensively studied, offering new capabilities to generate and control light. Usually, nonlinear metasurfaces are fabricated on planar substrates where the entire functionality is encoded in the metasurface design. Here, we study a new route to nonlinear metasurface-based optics by coating linear refractive elements ...

Efficient Tuning of the Third-Order Nonlinear Optical Properties of Some Functionalized Boron-Dipyrromethene Dyes [PDF]

open access: yesNanomaterials
In the present work, the third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) response of some recently synthesized, functionally substituted Boron–Dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivatives is studied, and their nonlinear optical properties are investigated using the Z-scan ...

Intermodal all-optical pulse switching and frequency conversion using temporal reflection and refraction in multimode fibers [PDF]

open access: yesNanophotonics
In this work, we extend temporal reflection and refraction analogies from the case of singlemode optical fibers to multimode fibers. Specifically, we show that nonlinear multimode fibers provide novel degrees of freedom that permit us to control optical ...

Ultimate conversion efficiency of second harmonic generation in all-dielectric resonators of quasi-BICs in consideration of nonlinear refraction of dielectrics.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2021
We investigate second harmonic generation (SHG) in all-dielectric resonance nanostructures of high-Q factors assisted by quasi-bound states in the continuum (quasi-BICs).
