Nondegenerate Nonlinear Refraction in Semiconductors

Frontiers in Optics 2016, 2016
The dispersion of nondegenerate nonlinear refraction in semiconductors is measured using our beam-deflection method. With high nondegeneracy, n2 is significantly enhanced over the degenerate case, and rapidly switches sign to negative near the bandgap.

Ultrafast dynamics of nonlinear refraction

Latin America Optics and Photonics Conference, 2018
We introduce the nonlinear beam deflection technique that allows unambiguous separation of slow and fast nonlinearities. This highly sensitive method allowed characterization of a wide range of materials, including solvents, gases, semiconductors and transparent conducting oxides.

Nonlinear refraction, absorption and optical limiting properties of disperse blue 14 dye

, 2020
Nonlinear refraction, absorption and optical power limiting properties of an anthraquinone dye (disperse blue 14) in water have been investigated using 635 nm diode laser by Z-scan technique.

Influences of Fe3+ ions on rapid growth and laser-induced nonlinear refraction of potassium dihydrogen phosphate crystal

, 2020
For rapidly grown KDP crystal, the whole growth zone is composed of prismatic- and pyramidal-sector. In order to further understand the distinctions between them, KDP crystals doped with Fe3+ in trace amount were selected to explore the influences of ...

Nonlinear refraction in vitreous humor

Optics Letters, 1993
We extend the application of the z-scan technique to determine the nonlinear refractive index (n(2)) for human and rabbit vitreous humor, water, and physiological saline. In these measurements there were nonlinear contributions to the measured signal from the aqueous samples and the quartz cell that held the sample.

Intensity-dependent nonlinear refraction of antimonene dispersions in the visible and near-infrared region.

Applied Optics, 2018
Antimonene is a stable 2D allotrope of antimony that is predicted to have a direct bandgap, high third-order optical nonlinear susceptibility, and high electron mobility.

Nonlinear refraction in CS2

Applied Physics B, 2004
The nonlinear refractive index (γ) of CS2 was measured using the Z-scan technique and laser radiation of various (femto-, pico-, and nano-second) pulse durations. We observed the growth of γ with the increase of the pulse duration (from (3±0.6)×10-15 cm2 W-1 at 110 fs to (4±2)×10-14 cm2 W-1 at 75 ns) due to the additional influence of the molecular ...

Nonlinear refractive index of optical crystals

Physical Review B, 1989
The nonlinear refractive indices (${n}_{2}$) of a large number of optical crystals have been measured at a wavelength near one micrometer with use of nearly degenerate three-wave mixing. The measurements are compared with the predictions of an empirical formula derived by Boling, Glass, and Owyoung.

Nonlinear refraction of hard x rays

Physical Review B, 2008
We study the nonlinear refraction of x rays in highly ionized condensed matter by using a classical model of a cold electron plasma in a lattice of still ions coupled with Maxwell equations. By employing a group-theoretical technique, we reduce the governing equations of the system to an integrable set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations ...
