Topology‐Enriched Toughness Enhancement in Quasi‐Periodic Metastructures Featuring Tailorable Strong‐Weak Network

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A quasi‐periodic Dart‐Kite (QDK) metastructure with a golden‐ratio‐constrained strong–weak bond network simultaneously enhances strength, toughness, and damage tolerance. Its distributed topology enables predictable, tailorable crack paths for precise fracture control and stable mechanics, demonstrating a high‐performance, controllable architecture ...

Nonlinear Optical Absorption and Refraction Study of Metallophthalocyanine Dyes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
This dissertation deals with the characterization of the nonlinear absorption and refraction of two representative metallophthalocyanine dyes: chloro aluminum phthalocyanine dissolved in methanol, referred to as CAP, and a silicon naphthalocyanine ...

Organoid Brain‐Machine‐Interface Devices for Central Nervous System Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We envision organoid brain‐machine‐interface (Organoid‐BMI) devices as new biohybrid bidirectional communication pathways to connect the human CNS and the external world for personalized CNS repair and regeneration. ABSTRACT Central nervous system (CNS) repair and regeneration suffer from tremendous clinical challenges due to current limitations in ...

Multiscale Architecture and Mechanics of the Cell Nucleus: Implications for Disease, Bioengineering and Nanomedicine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nuclear mechanical properties are inherently scale‐dependent, arising from a hierarchical architecture that spans DNA, chromatin, the nuclear envelope, and condensates. Experimental techniques and theoretical models are integrated into a cohesive multiscale framework linking nanoscale structural features to organelle‐level mechanical behavior.

Intermodal all-optical pulse switching and frequency conversion using temporal reflection and refraction in multimode fibers

open access: yesNanophotonics
In this work, we extend temporal reflection and refraction analogies from the case of singlemode optical fibers to multimode fibers. Specifically, we show that nonlinear multimode fibers provide novel degrees of freedom that permit us to control optical ...

A Novel Approach Based on Acceptor–Donor–Acceptor Type Molecules Enhances the Therapeutic Efficacy and Safety of Photothermal Therapy for Osteosarcoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Jin et al. developed IEICO‐F nanoparticles with enhanced photothermal conversion efficiency via optimized push‐pull effect. Under 808 nm laser, these nanoparticles effectively generated heat to kill osteosarcoma cells and exhibited significant tumor suppression in vivo. Therefore, this novel A‐D‐A type molecule‐based photothermal therapy strategy holds

Zn(C2H4NO2)2(SO2CH3NH2)2 and Zn(C2H4NO2)2[SO2(NH2)2]: Regulation of Unique ZnO(C2H4NO2)2 Units by Polar Tetrahedrons for Balanced UV Nonlinear Optical Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The modulation of polar tetrahedra enabled the synthesis of an outstanding short‐wave UV NLO crystal, Zn(C2H4NO2)2[SO2(NH2)2], which achieves a rare balance of a large bandgap (5.93 eV), high birefringence (Δn = 0.126 at 546 nm), and strong SHG response (1.36 × KDP), especially achieving excellent phase‐matching throughout the full transparency range ...

Reverse Weak Polarity‐Induced Ordered Layer Control for Enhanced Second‐Harmonic Generation in Ultraviolet Nonlinear Optical Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Reverse Weak Polarity‐Induced Ordered Layer Control strategy, optimizing the design of layered structures, has been successfully designed. By leveraging inhomogeneous field of units to replace isotropic fields of metal cations, polar layers realize controllable layer stacking via a “layer→linker→layer” polarity transfer.
