Full‐Field Damage Monitoring in Architected Lattices Using In situ Electrical Impedance Tomography
In situ electrical impedance tomography (EIT) turns 3D‐printed, CNT‐infused architected lattices into full‐field damage‐imaging systems. Tunable Voronoi‐based geometries act as active sensing architectures, enabling conductivity maps to detect early‐stage damage and localise sequential ligament fracture before catastrophic failure.

The mantis shrimp telson reveals how ridged biological shields control deformation under impact. Inspired by this architecture, telson‐inspired ridged curved shells transform ridge geometry and macroscopic curvature into bidirectional snap‐through, tunable stiffness, and enhanced hysteretic energy dissipation for multifunctional architected materials ...

1D Nonlinear site response prediction: Analysis of residuals at a large number of Kik-Net vertical seismometer arrays [PDF]
Site response models are frequently used in engineering practice to predict surficial ground motions based on a site-specific soil profile and input motions, and site response predictions are especially important for large strains and accelerations ...

A graphene‐supported 2D metal–organic network stabilizes highly reactive Fe(I)‐N4 single sites through Co‐induced charge redistribution. Combined experiments and theory reveal Fe(I) formation, oxygen‐driven oxidation, and O2 activation mechanisms, offering a strategy to access low‐valent iron centers relevant to catalytic and biological processes ...

Conversion‐induced sulfur expansion generates strong mechanical constraints and localized stresses within solid‐state Li‐S cathodes. Heterogeneous solid‐electrolyte confinement creates tensile strain‐energy hotspots that govern particle cracking. Larger sulfur particles accelerate fracture, while higher porosity relaxes constraint and delays damage ...

Defect‐Mediated Inelastic Light Scattering by Infrared Phonons in Hexagonal Boron Nitride
Optically active defects in hexagonal boron nitride enable inelastic stimulated light scattering mediated by infrared‐active phonons, relaxing conventional Raman selection rules. Defect engineering enhances the Stokes‐conversion process and activates both TO‐ and LO‐phonon scattering channels.

2D nonlinear seismic response characteristics of a strait site with deep inhomogeneous soil deposits
The strait seabed is usually a deep sediment basin with various types of micro-topographies, and its seismic responses are strongly affected by the micro-topographies. A nonlinear seismic response analysis of 2D refined finite element simulated model for
