Nonlinear static analysis of Multistoried Building in Yemen
Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, 2018A large number of multi-story reinforced concrete (R/C) framed building structures in urban Yemen were constructed with masonry infills for economic, aesthetic or architectural reasons. We have investigated the effect of the layout of masonry infill panels over the elevation of masonry infilled R/C frames on the seismic performance and potential ...

Nonlinear static isogeometric analysis of cable structures
Archive of Applied Mechanics, 2018The purpose of this paper is to develop and evaluate the efficiency of the cable element based on the Lagrangian formulation using the Isogeometric analysis (IGA) approach. Two Lagrangian formulations (Total Lagrangian and Updated Lagrangian) have been adopted in the static analysis of nonlinear behaviour of the cable structures.

A Static and Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of Resonant Microbeams
Volume 1: 21st Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, Parts A, B, and C, 2007An investigation into the response of microbeams to DC and AC electric actuation is presented. The beam is modeled according to the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and small strains and moderate rotation approximations are assumed. The governing equation is a nonlinear integral-partial-differential equation in space and time.

On the static analysis of structures with strong geometric nonlinearity
Computers & Structures, 1980Abstract Highly flexible structures, such as cable systems or inflatable shells, derive their ability to support their own weight and other loads from some secondary loading (e.g., pretensioning or pressurization). These structures can have very strong geometric nonlinearities when this secondary loading is small.

NONLINEAR STATIC ANALYSIS OF END-FITTINGS FOR GFRP-PRESTRESSING RODS
Computers & Structures, 1983Abstract This contribution affords an insight into a current research project about end fittings for pretensioned GFRP rods. The purpose of the present paper is to show that the ADINA-FE-program can be modified by the user at reasonable expense for the analysis of structures and materials whose properties cannot be reproduced adequately by the ...

Nonlinear analysis of static and dynamic stability of metallic chimneys
Thin-Walled Structures, 1994Abstract Due to the situations arising from pollution, the problem of equipping the industrial metallic chimneys (or their extensions, using additional segments) with special antipolluting devices, is of general concern in most of the industrialized countries. The antipolluting devices or the extensions of the chimneys introduce extral loadings.

Nonlinear static analysis of smart laminated composite plate
Aerospace Science and Technology, 2011Abstract In this paper, a third order shear deformation theory is used to study the behavior of laminated smart composite plate with magnetostrictive layers, while accounting for geometric nonlinearity in the von-Karman sense. A coupled analysis of magnetostrictive material is presented where Terfenol-D is used as a magnetostrictive material to ...

Sensitivity Analysis: Nonlinear Static Spring Systems
2009In design we perform an analysis and then we often “tweak” a design parameter and repeat the analysis to see if the design performance improves. In optimization we compute gradients of the cost and constraint functions to guide us through the design space and ultimately arrive at a design that satisfies the Karush-Kuhn Tucker optimality criteria*.
