Nonlinear vibration of thick stiff fabric with small flexural stiffness
Dynamic behaviour of fabric is very complex during weaving, dyeing and finishing processes. Thick stiff fabric vibration has great influence not only on the fabric itself but also on the performance of machine. The theoretic analysis for the nonlinear free vibration of thick stiff fabric with small flexural stiffness is put forward in the paper.

A novel stiffness model for a wall-climbing hexapod robot based on nonlinear variable stiffness
In this article, the most contribution is to propose a novel general stiffness model to analyze the stiffness of a wall-climbing hexapod robot. First, we propose a new general stiffness model of serial mechanism, which includes the linear and nonlinear ...

Global modes and nonlinear analysis of inverted-flag flapping [PDF]
An inverted flag has its trailing edge clamped and exhibits dynamics distinct from that of a conventional flag, whose leading edge is restrained. We perform nonlinear simulations and a global stability analysis of the inverted-flag system for a range of ...

When two rough surfaces are loaded together contact occurs at asperity peaks. An interface of solid contact regions and air gaps is formed that is less stiff than the bulk material.

Multiscale modeling of magnetic materials: Temperature dependence of the exchange stiffness [PDF]
For finite-temperature micromagnetic simulations the knowledge of the temperature dependence of the exchange stiffness plays a central role. We use two approaches for the calculation of the thermodynamic exchange parameter from spin models: (i) based on ...
