Quantifying Protein–Glycan Interactions Using Native Mass Spectrometry
ABSTRACT Interactions between glycan‐binding proteins (GBPs) and carbohydrates (glycans) are essential to many biological processes relevant to human health and disease. For most GBPs, however, their glycan interactome—the repertoire of glycans recognized and their specificities—is poorly defined.

Intrinsic nonlinear effects of dipole magnets in small rings
We find that dynamic aperture depends significantly on the bending radii of dipole magnets when designing a small storage ring for Tsinghua Thomson scattering X-ray source (TTX) mainly because of the nonlinearity of the dipole field.

Abstract Allogenic forcing of sediment production generates sedimentary signals that we use to understand the past. These signals may be buffered or shredded by autogenic processes as they travel through sediment routing systems from source to sink. Studies on signal propagation tend to focus on either signal buffering by deterministic fluvial networks

Fiber-Coupled Ultra-High-Q Microresonators for Nonlinear and Quantum Optics [PDF]
The ability to confine optical energy in small volumes for long periods of time is desirable for a number of applications, ranging from photonics and nonlinear optics, to fundamental studies in quantum electrodynamics.

Quasi‐Periodic X‐Ray Variations at BARREL: Role of Electron Precipitation and Solar Wind Driving
Abstract The Balloon Array for Radiation belt Relativistic Electron Losses (BARREL) mission was designed to study the loss of radiation belt electrons to the upper atmosphere. Previous analysis of data from balloon pairs showed that electron precipitation events manifest coherent quasi‐periodic variations (with periodicity on the order of 10–60 min ...

On the Meaning of Localization in Non‐Local Quantum Field Theory
In non‐local quantum field theory nature does not necessarily allow objects or events to be localized to exact mathematical points. Instead any physical measurement has a built‐in finite resolution set by the non‐locality scale. Spacetime remains continuous and Lorentz‐covariant, but below this scale pointlike localization becomes an idealization ...

Radiation from nonlinear Thomson scattering (RNTS) has emerged as an important mechanism for generating highly directional and broadband attosecond emission. However, the influence of laser-field structure on electron dynamics and the resulting radiation

2XII Thomson scattering system
A Thomson-scattering system using a 6-joule Q-switched ruby laser and an eight-channel polychromator was constructed and employed to measure electron temperatures and densities at the center of the 2XII mirror confinement experiment.

A method to generate an isolated single-cycle attosecond pulse from the interaction of a high-power femtosecond laser pulse with a nano-tube array is demonstrated using a two-dimensional relativistic particle-in-cell simulation.

Ultrahigh Brilliance Multi-MeV γ-Ray Beams from Nonlinear Relativistic Thomson Scattering [PDF]
We report on the generation of a narrow divergence (θγ<2.5mrad), multi-MeV (Emax≈18MeV) and ultrahigh peak brilliance (>1.8×1020photonss-1mm-2mrad-2 0.1% BW) γ-ray beam from the scattering of an ultrarelativistic laser-wakefield accelerated ...
