Modulation of turbulence and mesoscale structure in nested large‐eddy simulations with a gray‐zone parent domain

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The cell perturbation (CP) method mitigate mesoscale structural perturbations entering large‐eddy simulations (LES) from gray‐zone parent domains. The turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) bias‐filtering effect of CP increases with nesting ratio and is most pronounced under weakly convective conditions.

The Nonlocal Almgren Problem

open access: yesMathematics
In the nonlocal Almgren problem, the goal is to investigate the convexity of a minimizer under a mass constraint via a nonlocal free energy generated with a nonlocal perimeter and convex potential.

Individualization and Purification of Carbon Nanothreads

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Reductive dissolution enables the solution processing of carbon nitride nanothreads into individualized nanothreads that can be assembled into ultrathin films. The resulting interconnected networks exhibit weakly semiconducting behavior, with the conductivity decreasing by only ∼40% from room temperature to 2 K.

Humidity‐Guided In Situ Polymerization for Controlled Formation of Smooth, Oriented Covalent Organic Framework Films

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
We develop an operationally simple, efficient approach to prepare thin films of 2D imine COFs, where environmental humidity plays a key role in the formation of smooth, face‐on oriented films. The high controllability and reproducibility of this method allow statistical evaluation of morphologically varied COF films for chemiresistive sensing ...

Direct observation of coexisting local and nonlocal turbulence in a magnetically confined plasma

open access: yesCommunications Physics
Observing mediating structures in nonlocal transport is a cross-disciplinary challenge that spans disordered materials and turbulent fluids. The difficulty stems from the transient nature of mediators and nonlocal responses to probes, which renders ...

Unveiling Van Der Waals Forces and Associated Hamaker Constants Across the Nanomaterial Landscape With Advanced Atomic Force Microscopy

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Van der Waals interactions are reviewed through the lens of advanced atomic force microscopy, highlighting recent progress in nanoscale quantification of Hamaker constants. Emerging methodologies enable high‐resolution mapping of intermolecular forces in 2D materials and biological systems, bridging experimental measurements with quantum‐informed ...

Acceptor‐Bridged Covalent Organic Frameworks for Boosted Photocatalytic Properties

open access: yesSusMat, EarlyView.
Highly efficient photocatalytic covalent organic frameworks for 1O2 generation were constructed by embedding electron‐withdrawing bridges into donor–acceptor COF backbones. The acceptor‐bridged COFs, particularly COF‐4F bearing tetrafluorobenzene bridges, exhibit markedly superior 1O2 generation capacity, which is approximately 10 times higher than the

Attention‐Based Spatial–Temporal Model for the Entire Indoor Space Temperature Estimation

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, EarlyView.
This study proposes a novel attention‐based spatial–temporal model for indoor temperature estimation, which integrates positional encoding and an attention mechanism with a fully connected neural network. By jointly capturing temporal dynamics and spatial correlations, the model enables high‐resolution estimation of temperature fields across the entire

“Your English Sounds Almost British”: Everyday Linguicism and Racialized Subjectivity of an International Student in Hong Kong

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines how everyday linguicism and racism shape the academic and social experiences of international students in Hong Kong, focusing on the racialized subjectivity of a South Asian graduate student. Although research on international students has mainly focused on Western higher education, little attention has been paid to the ...
