Nonlocal Mechanical Metamaterials Enabling Soliton Mode Conversion
A mechanical metamaterial (MM) system with nonlocal interactions is presented, where elastic (nontopological) solitons encountering a boundary defect undergo mode conversion and generate backward‐propagating topological solitons. This finding reveals a new mechanism for soliton dynamics in nonlocal systems, offering insights into energy transport, wave

Broadband Phonon Resonance Spectrum in Host–Guest Resonator Arrays via Nonlocal Coupling
Introducing nonlocal coupling in host–guest systems induces collective resonance, resulting in a smooth and broadband phonon resonance spectrum. This strategy overcomes the narrowband and antiresonance limitations of local coupling and thus provides a versatile route to manipulate phonon transport.

Revolving chiral patterns are induced by an ultraviolet light beam in frustrated films of photoactive chiral nematics. The uniformity and regularity of the rotation depend on the ratio of the pattern size to the diameter of the light spot. The rotation is interrupted when this ratio reaches about eight.

Interpretable Machine Learning‐Based Radiation Emulation for ICON
Abstract The radiation parameterization is one of the computationally most expensive components of Earth system models (ESMs). To reduce computational cost, radiation is often calculated on coarser spatial or temporal scales, or both, than other physical processes in ESMs, leading to uncertainties in cloud‐radiation interactions and thereby in ...
