De novo design of ATPase based on a blueprint optimized for harboring the P‐loop motif

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract De novo design of proteins has seen remarkable recent progress and has provided understanding of folding and functional expression. However, rationally creating enzymes with high activity comparable to most naturally occurring enzymes remains challenging.

Violation of No‐Signaling on a Public Quantum Computer

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 12, 2025.
No‐signaling is the simplest consequence of lack of communication, assumed in Bell tests of nonlocality. Its violation indicated serious malfunction of the system. Tested on IBM Quantum, no‐signaling turned out to be violated at various configurations. As simple crosstalk cannot explain it, an urgent investigation of the origin is necessary.

Defending knowledge abroad

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, Volume 46, Issue 6, Page 1494-1522, June 2025.
Abstract Research Summary This article analyzes how innovation country‐of‐origin impacts the decisions of multinational corporations (MNCs) to defend their patents against infringement in foreign countries. We argue that MNCs have stronger incentives to defend their locally generated innovations (in foreign countries) than their home‐ or third‐country ...

Solid‐State Synthesis of Phase‐Pure Micron‐Sized Patrónite Vanadium Tetrasulfide toward Practical Magnesium Batteries

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2025.
An upscalable solid‐state approach is refined to obtain phase‐pure vanadium tetrasulfide (VS4), a promising magnesium battery cathode material. After optimization of the cathode processing and electrolyte formulation, the simultaneous cationic and anionic redox principle, enabling fast diffusion within VS4, is confirmed by theorical computations and ...
