Topological Quasiparticles of Light: From Spin‐Orbit Coupling to Photonic Skyrmions

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 19, Issue 24, December 17, 2025.
This review summarizes recent advances in photonic skyrmions, emphasizing the central role of spin–orbit coupling in their formation. The review discusses how spin–orbit interactions generate skyrmionic textures, examines modulation strategies for their dynamic control, and provides an overview of emerging directions and opportunities where these ...

Metasurfaces in Adaptive Optics: A New Opportunity in Optical Wavefront Sensing

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 19, Issue 24, December 17, 2025.
Wavefront sensing constitutes a critical component of adaptive optics systems, aimed at quantitatively measuring distorted wavefronts and enabling closed‐loop correction in optical setups. Metasurfaces, as planar optical elements composed of nanoscale structures, provide exceptional freedom in modulating multiple dimensions of the light field.

Diffusive Resource–Consumer Dynamics With the Simplest Learning Mechanism and Nonlocal Memory Usage

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 48, Issue 18, Page 16433-16444, December 2025.
ABSTRACT To describe cognitive consumers' movement, we study a diffusive resource–consumer model with nonlocal memory usage described by a system of parabolic equations, which is coupled with spatial memory dynamics described by a linear learning equation.

Hyperspectral Imaging: The Intelligent Eye to Uncover the Password of Plant Science

open access: yesModern Agriculture, Volume 3, Issue 2, December 2025.
Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) has emerged as a powerful non‐destructive technique for characterisation of the plant phenotype and physiological traits. The ongoing development of cost‐effective hardware, coupled with standardised acquisition protocols and open‐access spectral libraries, is accelerating its integration with multi‐omics approaches to ...

Numerical Modeling of the Recession and Closure of Planar Hydraulic Fractures: Contact‐Based Versus Asymptotic‐Informed Schemes

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 49, Issue 17, Page 4054-4075, 10 December 2025.
ABSTRACT We compare two algorithms to simulate the propagation, arrest, recession, and closure of a planar hydraulic fracture, focusing on their ability to capture the physical processes governing fracture recession and closure. The first algorithm is based on a fixed grid with contact detection during recession, while the second is based on a moving ...
