Surface‐State‐Driven Selectivity of Electrocatalytic Glucose Oxidation: Metallic Au, Au─OH, and CuO
Advanced Science, EarlyView.In the electrochemical oxidation of glucose, whether the pyranose ring opens upon adsorption decides the reaction pathway: ring opening on metallic Au yields gluconic acid, gluconolactone formation on Au─OH leads to glucaric acid, and C─C cleavage on CuO gives formic acid. Surface state thus governs product selectivity.
