Influence of flexoelectric, small-scale, surface and residual stress on the nonlinear vibration of sigmoid, exponential and power-law FG Timoshenko nano-beams

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 2019
This research deals with the nonlinear vibration of the functionally graded nano-beams based on the nonlocal elasticity theory considering surface and flexoelectric effects.

Capturing Complex Rate‐Dependent Behaviors of Saturated Clays: A Fractional Consistency Kinematic Hardening Viscoplastic Approach

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 50, Issue 8, Page 3281-3296, 10 June 2026.
ABSTRACT Saturated high plasticity clays show complex nonlinear, rate‐dependent, and hysteresis behaviors under non‐monotonic stress paths, requiring advanced mathematical constitutive equations for accurate description. Taking into account the inherent advantages of kinematic hardening mechanisms in simulating complex stress histories, this paper ...

Exact determination of the volume of an inclusion in a body having constant shear modulus

open access: yes, 2014
We derive an exact formula for the volume fraction of an inclusion in a body when the inclusion and the body are linearly elastic materials with the same shear modulus.

Fundamental Solutions of Nonlocal Elastic Theory and Their Characteristics.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series A, 1993
In this paper we consider the general fundamental solutions and their characteristics of nonlocal elastic theory. The solutions are obtained by means of a simple method and a direct integral method. The simple method combines a power series of α and classical fundamental solutions.

Nonlinear Wave Modulation in Nanorods Using Nonlocal Elasticity Theory

open access: yesInternational Journal of Nonlinear Sciences and Numerical Simulation, 2018
Abstract In this study, nonlinear wave modulation in nanorods is examined on the basis of nonlocal elasticity theory. Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory is employed to derive nonlinear equations for the motion of nanorods. The analysis of the modulation of axial waves in nonlocal elastic media is performed, and the reductive ...

A non-local asymptotic theory for thin elastic plates [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2017
The three-dimensional dynamic non-local elasticity equations for a thin plate are subject to asymptotic analysis assuming the plate thickness to be much greater than a typical microscale size. The integral constitutive relations, incorporating the variation of an exponential non-local kernel across the thickness, are adopted.

Aspects of Parameter Identification for a Micromorphic Continuum applied to a Cold‐Box Sand

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This work is concerned with the modeling of a cold‐box sand, a composition of sand grains and a resin binder. To this end, experiments are performed, which show the following characteristics: localization phenomena in the form of a shear band, softening behavior in the force‐displacement curve, and asymmetric behavior for compression and ...

FE2 Method to Model Rod‐ and Beam‐Like Atomic Based Nanostructures

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The mechanical behaviour of rod‐ and beam‐like atomistic nanostructures is analysed using the FE2${\rm FE}^2$ method. At the macroscopic scale, the system is described by a two‐dimensional Timoshenko beam model. On the microscopic level, molecular mechanics is used.
