National forest inventory of Finland and its role estimating the carbon balance forests. COST E21 Workshop. Contribution of forests and forestry to mitigate greenhouse effects. Joensuu (Finland). 28-30 Sep 2000 [PDF]
The paper presents the total stem volume increment and total drain, as well as the corresponding carbon contents, of the trees of Finnish forests. The carbon contents are converted to carbon dioxide equivalents.

Core alleviates many limitations of conventional nacelle construction methods. Radical core, made of metals or nonmetals, is fabricated either by joining nodes and then expanding, or by performing each layer and then joining nodes.

High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Growth response of Grevillea robusta A. Cunn. seedlings to phosphorus fertilization in acid soils from Kenya [PDF]
Three experiments were conducted to assess the response of Grevillea robusta to phosphorus fertilization using acid soils showing low P levels from Eastern (Gituamba-Andosols) and Western (Kakamega-Acrisols) Kenya.

Graphical representation of chemical periodicity of main elements through boxplot
Graphics play an important role in data analysis. Boxplots are powerful graphical representation of data that gives an overview and a numerical summary of a data set. In this paper boxplots are used to analyze the periodic trends of main elements.

Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Isoptopic evidence of the transfer of nitrogen fixed by legumes to coffee trees [PDF]
The use of isotopic methods has made it possible to quantify the contribution of nitrogen fixed by a coffee plantation. Thanks to the use of the natural 15N abundance assessment technique, we were able to show that, in field condition, roughly 30/ of the

Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed

Calculation on the impacts of forestation, afforestation and reforestation on the C-sequestration potential in Belgian forests ecosystems. COST E21 Workshop. Contribution of forests and forestry to mitigate greenhouse effects. Joensuu (Finland). 28-30 Sep 2000 [PDF]
The Belgian climate policy is formulated at the federal level, requiring cooperation between regional and federal administrations. Around a fifth of the total area of Belgium is covered by forests.

The formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) was investigated in this study, carrying out immersion tests for 30 min at a temperature of 1600°C with liquid high‐silicon electrical steel (Si ≈ 3 mass‐%) and different MgO–C refractories. Conventional MgO–C refractories were considered, as well as MgO–C refractories containing MgO–C recyclate and ...
