Nonnegative Matrices That Are Similar to Positive Matrices

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 2009
We study the question in which nonnegative matrices are similar to positive matrices first raised by Borobia and Moro in 1997. We identify certain classes of nonnegative matrices that are not similar to positive matrices and solve the problem when an $n\times n$ nonnegative matrix has exactly $n$ or $n+1$ elements equal to zero.

When are nonnegative matrices product of nonnegative idempotent matrices?

Linear and Multilinear Algebra, 2017
Applications of nonnegative matrices have been of immense interest to both social and physical scientists, particularly to economists and statisticians. This paper considers the question as to when a nonnegative singular matrix can be decomposed as a product of nonnegative idempotents analogous to the well-known result for any arbitrary matrix.

Eigenvector Slicing of the Nonnegative Matrices

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1998
Summary: This paper shows how the set of nonnegative matrices can be seen as the union of smaller-dimensional sets called slices. For \(2\times 2\) matrices a model is drawn and it is shown how the model can be used to study the eigenvector behavior of a perturbed matrix.

Nonnegative matrices

Choice Reviews Online, 1988
Today, the theory of nonnegative matrices is one of the most active areas of linear algebra - it has found many applications in mathematics and the applied sciences. This text is based on the perron-Frobenius theory and the most up-to-date research in the field.

Nonnegative $\lambda $-Monotone Matrices

SIAM Journal on Algebraic Discrete Methods, 1981
In this paper, the structure of nonnegative $m \times n$ matrices A satisfying $AXA = A$, for some nonnegative $n \times m$ matrix X, is obtained. Several equivalent characterizations of such matrices A have been given earlier by Plemmons [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., 39 (1973), pp.

On Infinite Products of Nonnegative Matrices

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1974
The paper gives some sufficient conditions under which $\prod _{k = 1}^\infty A_k = \lim _{m \to \infty } (A_m A_{m - 1} \cdots A_1 )$ exists, where each $A_k ,k = 1,2, \cdots $, is $n \times n$ an...

On the spectral radius of nonnegative matrices [PDF]

open access: possibleAustralas. J Comb., 2000
Summary: We give lower bounds for the spectral radius of nonnegative matrices and nonnegative symmetric matrices, and prove necessary and sufficient conditions to achieve these bounds.
