Complementary Sensitivity of Fixed‐Time and Fixed‐Oscillation Regimes to Exchange and Structural Disorder in the Human Brain Revealed Using Oscillating‐Gradient Diffusion MRI With Ultra‐Strong Gradients

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 6, Page 3429-3444, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Oscillating‐gradient spin‐echo (OGSE) diffusion MRI probes cell geometry and membrane integrity through the frequency‐dependence of kurtosis, but prior studies have reported inconsistent findings depending on how frequency is varied. We compared frequency‐dependent kurtosis in the human brain under two regimes: varying frequency with ...

M-Eigenvalues-Based Sufficient Conditions for the Positive Definiteness of Fourth-Order Partially Symmetric Tensors

open access: yesComplexity, 2020
M-eigenvalues of fourth-order partially symmetric tensors play important roles in the nonlinear elastic material analysis and the entanglement problem of quantum physics.

Nonnegative tensor factorization for contaminant source identification

open access: yesJournal of Contaminant Hydrology, 2019
Unsupervised Machine Learning (ML) is becoming increasingly popular for solving various types of data analytics problems including feature extraction, blind source separation, exploratory analyses, model diagnostics, etc. Here, we have developed a new unsupervised ML method based on Nonnegative Tensor Factorization (NTF) for identification of the ...

Nonlinear Model Order Reduction on Polynomial Manifolds for Computational Homogenisation Problems

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Model order reduction (MOR) techniques utilising nonlinear approximation spaces can search for solutions to computational homogenisation problems on low‐dimensional approximation spaces. In combination with hyperreduction techniques, this allows for computations on representative volume elements (RVEs) to be accelerated by multiple orders of ...

Clinically Deployable Handwriting Biomarkers of Parkinson's Disease via Multiscale Attention and Bayesian–Genetic Optimization

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Tablet‐based handwriting tasks (spiral, meander, and wave) are transformed into unified images and analyzed using PD‐MGMA‐DSCNN, a lightweight multiscale gated attention network. Bayesian–genetic optimization improves performance, while SHAP attribution maps provide interpretable handwriting biomarkers for Parkinson's disease screening.

Model Selection for Non-Negative Tensor Factorization with Minimum Description Length

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Non-negative tensor factorization (NTF) is a widely used multi-way analysis approach that factorizes a high-order non-negative data tensor into several non-negative factor matrices.

How to Visualize Computational Mechanics: Animating Finite Elements, Continuum Mechanics, and Tensor Calculus

open access: yesComputer Applications in Engineering Education, Volume 34, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Computational mechanics is inherently complex, as the underlying physical processes evolve in three spatial dimensions and time. Thus, intuitive visualizations in traditional lecture notes or on blackboards are challenging. This motivates the use of animation software to illustrate time‐dependent three‐dimensional phenomena, which complement ...

Cross-Work Theme Identification in Long Novels via Nonnegative Tensor Factorization

open access: yesMathematics
Identifying the major themes and recurring motifs of an author’s long novels is a basic task in literary studies. To support this task in a scalable way while retaining within-novel narrative variation, we model an author corpus as a third-order ...

Existence, Non‐Existence, and Uniqueness of Solutions for a Generalized Fractional p‐Kirchhoff Equation

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, Volume 299, Issue 5, Page 1004-1027, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the existence and non‐existence and uniqueness of global solutions for certain parameter values c$c$ in a new class of generalized fractional p$p$‐Kirchhoff equations in the whole space. Using the Pohozaev and Nehari identities for an auxiliary problem, together with the fractional Gagliardo–Nirenberg inequality and the

Doubly Nonnegative Tensors, Completely Positive Tensors and Applications

open access: yes, 2015
The concept of double nonnegativity of matrices is generalized to doubly nonnegative tensors by means of the nonnegativity of all entries and $H$-eigenvalues. This generalization is defined for tensors of any order (even or odd), while it reduces to the class of nonnegative positive semidefinite tensors in the even order case.
