Management of nonobstructive azoospermia: a committee opinion
Fertility and Sterility, 2018The management of nonobstructive azoospermia in the context of fertility treatment is discussed. This document replaces the ASRM document titled "Evaluation of azoospermia," last published in 2008.

Diffusion tensor imaging parameters in testes with nonobstructive azoospermia
Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2018BackgroundThe development of noninvasive imaging parameters having the capacity to identify the population of men with nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) where a successful sperm retrieval outcome is of great clinical significance.Purpose/HypothesisTo assess differences of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and fractional anisotropy (FA) in NOA testes ...

Nonobstructive Azoospermia: A Revolutionary Surgical Approach and Results
Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, 2009The treatment of nonobstructive azoospermia was developed and has evolved rapidly over the past decade. Extraction of spermatozoa from the limited sites of sperm production in the testes of men with nonobstructive azoospermia has been a primary challenge to the successful treatment of these patients.

Abnormal progression through meiosis in men with nonobstructive azoospermia
Fertility and Sterility, 2007To study meiotic abnormalities in men with nonobstructive azoospermia.Analysis of synaptonemal complex and recombination in testicular tissue.Research laboratory.Twenty-nine men with nonobstructive azoospermia and 12 men with normal spermatogenesis.Testicular tissues were processed with immunofluorescent staining using antibodies against proteins ...

STX2is a causative gene for nonobstructive azoospermia
Human Mutation, 2018STX2 encodes a sulfoglycolipid transporter. Although Stx2 nullizygosity is known to cause spermatogenic failure in mice, STX2 mutations have not been identified in humans. Here, we performed STX2 mutation analysis for 131 Japanese men clinically diagnosed with nonobstructive azoospermia.

Sperm Acquisition in Nonobstructive Azoospermia: What Are the Options?
Urologic Clinics of North America, 2008Approximately 10% of male-factor infertility is caused by azoospermia, and nearly two thirds of these patients have nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA). As experience has been gained, increasing numbers of men who have NOA are having sperm retrieved from their testes and used for intracytoplasmic sperm injection with vitro fertilization.

Conventional Versus Microdissection Testicular Sperm Extraction for Nonobstructive Azoospermia
The Journal of Urology, 2002We established a practical and safe strategy for testicular sperm extraction (TESE) in patients with nonobstructive azoospermia and compared conventional with microdissection TESE.In a retrospective comparative study 46 patients, including 22 with obstructive and 24 with nonobstructive azoospermia, underwent conventional TESE.

Value of Testicular Biopsy in Nonobstructive Azoospermia
2017One of the first problems that arise in the study of the azoospermic patient is to determine if he has a blockage of the spermatic ducts, obstructive azoospermia, or otherwise there is a primary failure in spermatogenesis, i.e., nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA). The testicular volume, FSH, and inhibin B may be normal in patients with NOA.
