A Comparison of Methods for Poisson Regression in the Presence of Background

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
This paper provides a statistical analysis of three common methods of regression for Poisson data in the presence of Poisson background, namely the joint fit with two parametric models for the source and the background, the use of a nonparametric model ...

Targeted Delivery of Indole‐3‐Pyruvic Acid Suppresses Macrophage Ferroptosis to Enhance CD8+ T Cell‐Mediated Immunotherapy Response in Bladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A microbiota‐derived metabolite, indole‐3‐pyruvic acid, suppresses macrophage ferroptosis through the AHR–NF‐κB–SLC7A11 axis. This preserves CD8+ T cell function in bladder cancer. Macrophage‐targeted nanoparticles enhance indole‐3‐pyruvic acid delivery and overcome resistance to PD‐1 blockade.

Paternal Sperm Gnas‐ICR Epigenetic Programming Contributes to PPP‐Like Phenotypes in Female Offspring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A paternal glucocorticoid–sperm Gnas‐ICR axis is linked to ovarian endocrine programming in female offspring. Paternal preconception caffeine exposure elevates corticosterone, promotes sperm Gnas‐ICR hypermethylation, and is associated with ovarian Gnas upregulation, cAMP/PKA/CREB–StAR activation, enhanced estradiol synthesis, and PPP‐like phenotypes ...

Modified Randomization Tests for Nonparametric Hypotheses

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1957
Suppose $X_1, \cdots, X_m, Y_1, \cdots, Y_n$ are $m + n = N$ independent random variables, the $X$'s identically distributed and the $Y$'s identically distributed, each with a continuous cdf. Let $$z = (z_1, \cdots, z_m, z_{m + 1}, \cdots, z_N) = (x_1, \cdots, x_m, y_1, \cdots, y_n)$$ represent an observation on the $N$ random variables and let $$u(z) =

RPLP2 Mediates the Beneficial Effects of Exercise on Stress Resistance Through Muscle–Brain Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel exercise‐inducible myokine acidic ribosomal protein P2 (RPLP2), initially identified from human trials, is presented here, whose circulating levels negatively correlate with clinical anxiety severity. Muscle‐derived RPLP2 enhances hippocampal ribosomal assembly and adult neurogenesis to rescue stress‐induced anxiety deficits.

Statistical inference methods for n‐dimensional hypervolumes: Applications to niches and functional diversity

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution
The size and shape of niche spaces or trait spaces are often analysed using hypervolumes estimated from data. The hypervolume R package has previously supported such analyses via descriptive but not inferential statistics. This gap has limited the use of

A Novel IDO1/NE Dual Inhibitor, IMM‐H018 Prevents the Primary and Secondary Sepsis and Ameliorates the Kidney Injury Through Inhibiting the Cytokine Storm and Microthrombosis, and Reversing Immunosuppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IMM‐H018, a dual IDO1/NE inhibitor, demonstrates potent therapeutic efficacy in sepsis by simultaneously targeting excessive inflammation and immune dysfunction. It prevents both primary and secondary sepsis through anti‐inflammatory, immune‐restoring, and renoprotective mechanisms, reducing organ damage, improving immune homeostasis, preserving kidney

PEAR1 Promotes Glucose Metabolism Reprogramming in Sepsis‐Associated Acute Lung Injury via AARS1‐Mediated HIF‐1α Lactylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study revealed that a PEAR1/HIF‐1α/ glycolysis/lactate/H3K18la positive feedback loop in PMVECs that drives the development of S‐ALI. Mechanistically, PEAR1 mediates the binding of HIF‐1α to AARS1, leading to the lactylation of HIF‐1α, the primary lactylation site of which is K172.

Non-Parametric Hypothesis Testing for Used Better than Aged in Laplace Transform (UBAL) Life Distributions: A Moment Inequalities Approach with Medical Applications

open access: yesAxioms
Life distribution comparison is important in reliability and survival analysis to model system aging and longevity. The article develops a non-parametric hypothesis test procedure for testing exponentiality against the Used Better than Aged in Laplace ...
