Nonparametric Statistical Thresholding for Sparse Magnetoencephalography Source Reconstructions

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2012
Uncovering brain activity from MEG data requires solving an ill-posed inverse problem, greatly confounded by noise, interference, and correlated sources.

Logarithmic Quantile Estimation for Rank Statistics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We prove an almost sure weak limit theorem for simple linear rank statistics for samples with continuous distributions functions. As a corollary the result extends to samples with ties, and the vector version of an a.s.

A Fourier transform method for nonparametric estimation of multivariate volatility

open access: yes, 2009
We provide a nonparametric method for the computation of instantaneous multivariate volatility for continuous semi-martingales, which is based on Fourier analysis.

Rates of convergence for the posterior distributions of mixtures of Betas and adaptive nonparametric estimation of the density [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, we investigate the asymptotic properties of nonparametric Bayesian mixtures of Betas for estimating a smooth density on $[0,1]$. We consider a parametrization of Beta distributions in terms of mean and scale parameters and construct a ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Conjugate Projective Limits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We characterize conjugate nonparametric Bayesian models as projective limits of conjugate, finite-dimensional Bayesian models. In particular, we identify a large class of nonparametric models representable as infinite-dimensional analogues of exponential

Differentially Private Nonparametric Hypothesis Testing

open access: yes, 2019
Hypothesis tests are a crucial statistical tool for data mining and are the workhorse of scientific research in many fields. Here we study differentially private tests of independence between a categorical and a continuous variable.

ON THE PERFORMANCE OF NONPARAMETRIC SPECIFICATION TESTS IN REGRESSION MODELS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Some recently developed nonparametric specification tests for regression models are described in a unified way. The common characteristic of these tests is that they are consistent against any alternative hypothesis.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

The impact and recovering strategies of the COVID-19 pandemic: Lessons from Taiwan’s hospitality industry

open access: yesCogent Social Sciences, 2020
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a huge threat to global public health and affected 188 countries and territories. As of May 24, 2020, it has caused a pandemic outbreak with more than 5,311,0893 confirmed infections and more than 342 ...
