Abstract A case of nonpenetrating wound of the heart muscle with rupture of a papillary muscle and contusion of the left ventricular wall from external violence is reported. Death resulted twenty-six hours after the injury, from loss of blood, shock, and an overwhelming pneumonic infection following the removal of a ruptured spleen.

Nonpenetrating Subclavian Artery Injuries
Archives of Surgery, 1985Nonpenetrating subclavian artery trauma, a potentially catastrophic injury, has been recognized more frequently with the liberal use of angiography in evaluating blunt cervicothoracic trauma. Six patients, five men and one woman, recently underwent surgical treatment at the University of Michigan Hospital for blunt injury of the subclavian artery.

Nonpenetrating intraabdominal injuries in children
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1974Abstract A series of 130 children with closed abdominal injuries is reviewed. Mortality is related to age and number of organs involved. Injuries to individual organs are analyzed. Injuries of the abdomen were found to be more common on the right side than on the left; a possible explanation is offered.
