The Strength of Nonperturbative Effects in String Theory

, 1991
We argue that the leading weak coupling nonperturbative effects in closed string theories should be of order exp(— C/κ) where κ 2 is the closed string coupling constant. This is the case in the exactly soluble matrix models. These effects are in principle much larger than the exp(—C/κ 2 ) effects typical of the low energy field theory.

Nonperturbative Effects in Energy Correlators: From Characterizing Confinement Transition to Improving α_{s} Extraction.

Physical Review Letters
Energy correlators provide a powerful observable to study fragmentation dynamics in QCD. We demonstrate that the leading nonperturbative corrections for projected N-point energy correlators are described by the same universal parameter for any N, which ...

Nonperturbative effects in inner-shell ionization

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1984
Abstract A theoretical investigation of ion-induced inner-shell ionization is described, in which some physical effects that are nonperturbative in nature are included within the formalism of perturbation theory. In particular, the effects of the dynamical response of the outer electrons under the influence of the incident projectile are considered ...

Nonperturbative effects at small x

Nuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 1991
Abstract A review of existing data shows the importance of nonperturbative contributions, particularly to those structure functions that vary rapidly with χ. The connection between small χ behaviour and the rise with energy of total hadronic cross sections requires the presence of a term χ −1.085 rather than the conventional χ −1 .

QCD Running Coupling in the Nonperturbative and Near-Perturbative Regimes.

Physical Review Letters
We use analytic continuation to extend the gauge-gravity duality nonperturbative description of the strong force coupling into the transition, near-perturbative, regime where perturbative effects become important.

Perturbation theory and nonperturbative effects: A happy marriage ?

Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 1992
Perturbation expansions in renormalized quantum field theories are reformulated in a way that permits a straightforward handling of situations when in the conventional approach, i.e. in fixed renormalization scheme, these expansions are factorially divergent and even of asymptotically constant sign.
