ADNP‐Related Helsmoortel–Van der Aa Syndrome: A Review of the Literature and Clinical Recommendations for Assessment and Monitoring

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT ADNP‐related Helsmoortel–Van der Aa syndrome (ADNP‐related HVDAS) is a single gene form of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) caused by pathogenic sequence variants in the activity‐dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) gene. In addition to ASD, ADNP‐related HVDAS is associated with a wide range of cognitive, behavioral, and physical health ...

Fort Nonsense

open access: yes, 2010
Like the purpose for which it was built, the physical remains of Fort Nonsense eventually were erased by the elements and other factors, until very little of the original structure could be seen.

Dynamic Operations in Macromolecular Data Storage

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
With the exponential growth of digital data and the limitations of conventional silicon‐based storage and computing technologies, macromolecular data storage, the practice of encoding digital information within large, complex molecules like DNA or synthetic polymers, has emerged as a scalable and sustainable alternative to traditional digital ...

Novel heterozygous ASH1L nonsense variant involved in mild intellectual disability

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
Mutations in ASH1L have been associated with a range of phenotypes, including intellectual disability (ID), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), seizures, as well as differences in skeletal, muscular, and sleep

Dual Aberrant Splicing Caused by an Apparently Missense CHD7 Variant, c.5273A>G (p.Asp1758Gly), in CHARGE Syndrome

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT CHARGE syndrome is a rare congenital disorder primarily attributed to heterozygous pathogenic variants of the CHD7 gene. Most pathogenic CHD7 variants are loss‐of‐function (LoF) variants, whereas the interpretation of missense variants remains challenging in the absence of functional evidence for their pathogenicity.

Patient and Family Reported Clinical Picture of IRF2BPL‐Related Disorders

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT IRF2BPL‐related disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder caused by heterozygous variants in the IRF2BPL (Interferon Regulatory Factor 2 Binding Protein‐Like) gene. The few reports available in the literature suggest that common symptoms include developmental delay, intellectual disability, and developmental regression.

Genetic Variants of Na+,K+‐ATPase Associated With Neurological Disorders: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neurological disorders encompass a wide range of severe symptoms and manifestations, many of which are associated with genetic variants that affect ionic homeostasis. Na+,K+‐ATPase, a transmembrane enzyme responsible for maintaining electrochemical gradients in cells, plays a crucial role in neuronal excitability and brain function.

Extending the ATP9A‐Related Phenotypic Spectrum: Indication of Schizophrenia Susceptibility

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT ATP9A, which belongs to the P4‐ATPase family of proteins, is involved in the efficient transport of vesicles from the Golgi apparatus to the plasma membrane, as well as the release of extracellular vesicles from human cells. In 2021, a loss‐of‐function variant of this gene was identified as being associated with a recessive neurodevelopmental ...

A rhesus macaque model of α‐dystroglycanopathy caused by a POMT1 splice altering variant

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Rhesus macaques homozygous for a naturally occurring spice altering variant in the POMT1 gene develop lissencephaly, microphthalmia, and muscular contracture. The presentation models severe presentation of the human Walker‐Warburg syndrome. Abstract Background Biallelic mutations in genes associated with α‐dystroglycan glycosylation manifest in a ...

Biallelic PIGB Variants Cause Motor Neuropathy with Conduction Blocks and Peripheral Nerve Hyperexcitability

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchored proteins play critical roles in nervous system function. Pathogenic variants in genes involved in GPI‐anchor biosynthesis cause early‐onset multisystem disorders known as inherited GPI deficiencies. We describe a novel neuromuscular phenotype associated with PIGB deficiency.
